Not the same administration, so not unexpected. But didn't Park Plaza sell their holding to Red Sea Group? Smoke and mirrors.

Pattaya Bay is not Waterfront, is it?

Don't they mean The Bay Pattaya, another of Pattaya'sn quality projects that's 2 years behind schedule?

Don't know if Red Sea has paid yet, but looking at the article the thing is controlled by one man.  I might be wrong.  These shenanigans are above my pay scale.

First they stated that Tulip and PPHE held joint equity: https://issuu.com/absolutethai/docs/absolutethai or http://www.absolutethai.com/blooming-luxury-in-pattaya-with-the-tulip-group/

What about Bali Hai Co., Ltd, the supposed initial purchaser of the land and the borrower of the 1.1 billion baht from UOB? Eli Papouchado has stated to City Hall that he has invested around four million baht of the eight million baht authorised capital. Eight million baht authorised capital and a 1.1 billion baht line of credit. Really?

Constant name changes and claimed new ownership. I wouldn't trust these people as far as I could throw them.

They opened up a sizeable line of credit after talking up a good story of a Marina and changing South Pattaya into Central Pattaya. Now they have no chance to sell the white elephant, so now shuffling paperwork between themselves.

https://www.trustnet.com/Investments/Article.aspx?id=201305010700116850D

Quote

in the event of default by Bali Hai Company Limited (the Thai company undertaking the Project that is the borrower under the UOB facilities) after completion of the Project, UOB can require the Company to purchase the serviced apartments for a consideration equal to the amount then outstanding under the UOB facilities, subject to a maximum of Thai Baht 600 million

So that explains the US$20,000,000 'sale' to Red Sea Group. Has Bali Hai Co. Ltd defaulted on the loan?

sounds like a real potential nightmare if you bought one of these condominiums and then down the track you discover the seller never had real title to the propertyin the first place:giggle:

It's a real disaster when you bought a condo on one of the planned 5 top-floors of the place.

It is an ill wind that blows no one any good.

Those who bought one floor lower can now look forward to having a penthouse for the price of a high-floor unit.

Not sure that it should be penthouse or not.

Pattaya city officer rejected the plan. It was in the local media since june 10th.

http://www.manager.co.th/Local/ViewNews.aspx?NewsID=9590000058356

The newspaper reported  that the developer proposed to cut off 5 floors but pattaya city officer rejected it. Source  said  the building space should be cut more to meet the regulation. Pattaya city asked the developer to improve the construction plan again.

By now the building had been halted for 2 years.

It was a very hard time for developer, buyers and  BANK.

A absolute disgrace shame on you lazy Thais at Pattaya City Hall. Get off that bowl of noodles and work. Stop taking photos with RTP and praising yourselves. Really you should be fined personally for destroying the environment. Your lucky. If i was PM you be jailed old boy.

Too true - used to be a lovely walk, Beach Rd., up WS then around the bay along to the lighthouse. Quiet too for Pattaya. That marina area looks a real eyesore.

Agreed. Used to be a hidden gem. Most tourists would only go as far as Tony's Discotheque. So from there on to Bali Hai and beyond was relatively unspoiled. Look now at the price of progress. Awful.

Greed, pure and simple. Crud about development and iconic buildings. It's just a nasty mess.

In the words of Joni Mitchell...

They paved paradise ....and put up a parking lot.

Idiots.

I bet no one can name a few spots that has not been ruined by greed, corruption, trash in the past 10 years

In which countries? I know several stunningly beautiful places in Europe that are entirely free to access, and are well-maintained with good roads. Dropping trash there would earn you an instant fine of many thousand Baht (equiv) or potentially a jail sentence. As would conducting any sort of unregistered or unauthorised business (ie food vending, condo building etc). And no possibility of bribing the policeman issuing the ticket.

Not all countries in the world are full of greedy people who have no regard for rules or the law, though I admit that they are more numerous everywhere than they were before.

I see. No, I cant. Outside of Pattaya there are the naval beaches which are generally clean and tidy, but there is a charge for using those (and possibly dual-pricing also which is a form of greed and corruption as far as I can see).

true!.on a different note, I wonder how easy/difficult, expensive/not so, safe/unsafe, worth/not worth keeping a speed boat or a power boat in Pattaya or near Pattaya. There are plenty of islands nearby and white sandy beaches.I like to think out of the box and not restrict myself to only bars at night  and  malls during day to evade  scorching heat.
