Non Immigrant B Extension Cancellation at Chiang Mai Immigration

Featured Replies

I hope to cancel my Non Immigrant B extension tomorrow at Chiang Mai Immigration. At the moment I'm waiting for the cancellation letter from my previous employer which I was promised today but so far it hasn't materialised. Is there any way to cancel my extension without the letter? Also, do I need to queue up early to get a ticket number or is this something I can turn up later for (like the 90 day reports)

Thanks

Seems like the moment you cross into Myanmar, it would be cancelled, especially if you re-enter on a 30. I have heard before about having to be out of the country in 7 days once your employment is terminated. Are you expecting to get a new visa issued at Immigration? Also depends on how long you plan on staying and what kind of hair day they are having. Might want to have some kind of itinerary or ticket showing you are leaving, and I wouldn't just go there with the attitude that you will string together 30s at your leisure....will also depend on your history.

You cannot cancel your extension at immigration without the letter.

I don't think you need to line up early to do the cancellation. That is only for long stay extensions.

Thanks. I am going to cancel my extension tomorrow then fly to Udon Thani then on to Laos Wednesday morning. So I presume I will have to pay for overstay if my cancellation letter says tomorrow.

I'm aware I could apply for the extension for 7 days but what I plan to do is go to apply for another non imm B for my new job on Wednesday. As I've been working at my new job using the non imm B from my previous job, I'm keen to get legal ASAP just in case.

I thought it was the school that cancelled it, and you had 7 days to leave without going to Immigration. If you have been working on a cancelled visa...that's a different story. The release letter from your old employer would apply to the WP, which you probably didn't have.

No I had work permit and visa but work permit has just expired. I worked there for 2 years and my boss was nice so she said she would give me the cancellation letter once my new school got the paperwork together. I have just received the new papers so I'm ready to go. I just need the cancellation letter then I can cancel my extension before I go to Laos.

As far as I know, the 7 days isn't automatic and it is something you must apply and pay 1,900 baht for at immigration. You then get 7 days to leave the country. As I will need less than 24 hours, I'm pretty sure I can just pay an overstay fine at the border.

My ex-employer company cancelled my non b visa and I got 30 days to leave the country.

When you get your cancellation letter then heed straight to the border as you have your new documents already. You can cancel your visa in Nong Khai or Mukdahan. In Mukdahan the immigration office is only about 500 meter from the border.

If you have not bought your flight ticket yet then you can take the bus, there are direct buses from Chang Mai to Nong Khai and I think to Mukdahan too.

No When your WP is cancelled you will receive a cancellation paper.

With this paper you have to cancel your Business Extension at the immigration office at the same day.

Then you apply for a 7 day extension (1900 baht)

I wasn't aware I could do it at the border... I've just got my letter with the last day of employment dated today. Either way, if I cancel today at CM immigration or at the border tomorrow I will still get fined 500 baht for overstay right?

Yes it would be a fine of 500 baht tomorrow. But if you went to immigration today you could apply for a 7 day extension, pay the 1900 baht fee and be given 7 days to leave.

Hi I am going to change school too but in a different province.

So, after I get the documents from the new school ( in a different province) and cancellation letter from the old school

Can't I just cancel my visa in the immigration of the new school ( different immigration office not the one where I got my extension ) and on the same day apply for extension of my Non B. with the new documents

without having to go out of thailand?

You have to cancel your extension (it is not a visa) at the office where it was issued. You can go to that office a few days before the cancellation date and they post date the cancellation.

Then go to the new office and apply for the extension with all the required documents from the new school.

Thank-you ubonjoe ..what about the work permit when and how do I cancel old wp and apply for a new one. Thanks a gain

Cancelled at Udon Thani. The officer was sure to make it clear that I should have cancelled at CM and told me he was in a good mood. 500 baht fine for 1 day overstay but no stamp in passport regarding this. In Laos now after no problems at the border.

Your new school can apply for your new work permit and get an application approval letter that you can use to apply for your new extension. Then when your old work permit is canceled the new one can be issued.

Thanks
