Hi

I've read some old threads on this issue but I am still slightly confused as to what is necessary. Things change all the time so just want to get the latest requirements.

I'm a British citizen and due to collect my new passport tomorrow.

I'm on a double entry tourist visa. Currently on the first entry, valid until 9 August 2015.

Am I due to transfer my entry stamp or visa to the new passport? Some threads say one or the other.

Is there a charge to transfer? I'm in Bangkok so presume I go to Chaeng Wattana?

What happens to my second tourist visa entry, is it still valid?

If I do a tourist visa extension later, does this go in the new passport?

Read some stuff about a letter being required from your embassy for transfer of stamps. Is this accurate and still the case? Is there a charge for this?

Do I need to transfer as soon as I get my new passport, or any day up to the end of my current visa?

Is it necessary to go to immigration at all, or can I do a visa run when the visa is due to expire and get whatever is required done at the border? Would go to Ban Laem or Mukdahan.

Apologies for all the questions. Appreciate all advice.

Many thanks

Since you are on a tourists visa entry you do not need to transfer your stamps at immigration.

You will show both passports on departure from the country and they will transfer your entry stamp to the new one and stamp you out in it. Then when you enter the country you will show both passport to show your still valid tourist visa in your old passport and they will stamp you into the country for 60 days in your new passport.

If I want to extend my current tourist visa at CW does the new passport make it difficult?

e.g Can I still extend my tourist visa and would that extension go into the new passport, or is an extension not possible and would I have to do a visa run before the end of my current visa to activate my second entry?

Thanks

If you go to do the extension before leaving the country it might be best to get the letter from the embassy in case they want it. They will do to do the transfer then. They will do the extension stamp in your new passport with an annotation of your visa and transfer your entry stamp.

After that is done you would use both passports on entry to the country to use your visa in your old passport and they will stamp you into the country in the new one.

OP - when you collect your new passport tomorrow, the With-It Tower Mob should hand you the attached notice explaining how you can go about obtaining the Embassy letter (blank template also enclosed). As you will see, it is one of the very few services (if not the only one) for which the Embassy doesn't levy a charge these days!
