BANGKOK: -- A Lampang beauty-slash-social studies student from Thammasat University was crowned this year’s Miss Universe Thailand on Saturday night.

Beside its famous pottery, Lampang province can now brag about Aniporn “Nat” Chaloemburanawong, 21, who was named the fairest one of all at the Miss Universe Thailand pageant at Royal Paragon Hall on Saturday night.

Nat is a fourth-year star student in the Faculty of Social Administration at Thammasat University. She won the beauty battle against 250 contestants with her 176 centimeters and 32-25-35 figure.

Second place went to Chavika “Yim” Watrsang (left) while Anchalika “Tammy” Na Phattalung still won third place despite her tepid performance during the question round.

She doesn't look Thai, I would describe her look as generic., would like to see her parents.

She's mixed race....Thammasat and Chula......(probably).........

Looks like all three had nose jobs, and the one who looks most Thai got third uyp.

A win for the Skin Whitening and Nose Stretching teams!

One can never be surprised by the bitterness and the negativity of a whole lot of people who post here on TV. Bravo! clap2.gif

Yours is the first bitter and negative post on the thread, if you read between the lines I think many of us are saying the noodle sellers daughter is prettier than these manufactured pretties. So a broad compliment to ordinary thai women.

I think Thai women are amongst the most beautiful in the world. Their smooth brown skin is a feature.

Why are the Thais so hung up on whitening their skin and narrowing their noses?

This lady could be from Sweden if she died her hair blond.

Time to really promote Thainess.

You must understand TVGerry that TV is entertainment for the most of us. What do we do without it?

TV has no existance without the "bitterness and negativity" as you call it.

You may findyourself a medium where there is none of this b and n.

Now just imagine we'd finally discover intelligent life in outer space. Now THAT really would mess up our various "Miss Universe" pageants and put an entirely new spin to them.... although I doubt extraterrestrials would want to participate in such a numbskull event - let alone assorted "Miss Mango", "Miss Durian" or "Miss Bamboo Shoot" contests.

Is it just me or is she not even close to being the prettiest/sexiest girl in Thailand?

My girlfriend once took part in a Thai beauty contest. The winner was chosen beforehand based on how much money her family had given to the operators.
