@watso63; I think you are being a little intolerant with your local amphur with respect to your application for a YTB....many offices (and local govt officers) are not aware that such a thing exists. If you speak to the amphur staff in the same tone as your post above then you aren't going to get anywhere quickly....Not criticizing you mate, just offering friendly advice....hope you view this post in the way that it was intended....good luck

My tgf has explained and even tried to show him a printed off version of the rules. Without writing a long essay about his tricks I understand and recognise a jobsworth when I see one. He has done them for married friends of mine. His last excuse was to get a residency acknowledgement from immigration, then he denied ever saying that. Thanks for the advice.? Oh, by the way. I'm always polite as is my very well behaved and mannered gf.

OK Mate. I wasn't trying to flame you. My reply was based on a similar experience I had when I first came here, when I was told that there was no such thing as an alien house book and it was only 5 years later that they suddenly knew what it was...then I decided I didn't need/want one....

Regarding the requirement for an Updated Passbook and Letter from the Thai Bank confirming funds.

Does this only apply to the 800k in bank method? If using the 65k per/mo income method do I still need a letter from the bank? Or is the letter from the Embassy confirming monthly income enough. (Using Hua Hin Immigration)

You need nothing from the bank if you are using the 65k baht income option. Your income letter should be all you need,

As far as national rules, no you wouldn't need to show a bank account or bank letter.

However there have been times when some offices want to see evidence of a local bank account just to see how people are living here.

I wouldn't expect you would need a bank immigration letter as you aren't using the account to qualify in any way.

A quick update to my original post.

I went to Kap Cheong (our local immigration office) recently to do my yearly visa renewal. Very disappointing, lengthy and frustrating process. 130 km round trip to this office. We arrived at 8.30 am and finally left at 10am.
The officers there seemed to be looking for problems with my application. They also insisted on all of my Thai bank statements as well as a map of where I am living.
These things have never been asked for before. This is despite me supplying them with as stat. dec. from the Australian embassy.
Long story short is that I have an "under consideration " stamp in my passport and I have been instructed to return in 5 weeks to see if they have approved my extension of stay. They will also do a home visitation within 10 days!
My feeling is if they grant the extension of stay I will make plans to never use this office again even if I have to move elsewhere in Thailand!
My question now is if they refuse my extension what do I do next? Do I have to leave the country and apply for a Non O immigration visa and if so where do I go to obtain this?
Any helpful replies are much appreciated.

If your application has been accepted and an "under consideration" stamp placed in your passport it is extremely unlikely that the extension of stay will be refused

Agreed. However if they do refuse the application I would like to know my options.

If it was not approved they would give you a 7 days to leave the country stamp. You could then go out for a new non-o visa and try again.

It will be approved though. They are dong the 30 day under consideration stamp to verify that you are living where you stated you are living.

There was a recent post from a member that they called him after about 10 days and told to come in and get his one year stamp.
