Dual citizenship

Featured Replies

I have been reading in many places that Thailand don't allow dual citizenship . And also that they only allow it up to 18 years old. Is that true ?

Not true.

Thailand does not have any law that specifically prohibits dual nationality..

At the age of 20 (not 18) a person can choose the nationality they want if they have more than one. But they are not required to give up one of them Before the age of 20 it was their parents choice.

Dual citizenship by birth or marriage is explicitely allowed, but the citizenship act still prescribes that Thais voluntarily acquiring a new citizenship by naturalization would loose the Thai one. There are no reports of that happening in any recent time.
