The UDD includes right wing nationalists, social activists, right wing reactionaries, reformed communists, farmers groups etc. There is a significant faction that detests/loathes Thaksin, and that is putting it politely. Sometimes I think they hate Thaksin more than some of his detractors in TVF,

Anti-Thaksin Red Shirts....

Joke of the Day.

Name them and then explain why they are never mentioned by anyone else and, if they exist, are never given any positions within the UDD.

.

Nice to see you have rejoined Thai Visa. What was your previous name?

Obviously you know nothing about the UDD. I will go farther and state that you are being intentionally ignorant in an sad effort to provoke.

Dr. Weng Tojirakarn leads a major faction in the UDD. He was also elected as a PTP MP in 2011. More importantly, he is recognized as the leader of the opposition to Thaksin in the PTP. He was a prominent member of PAD aka the yellow shirts and was outraged by the Shin transaction.. He is one of the few honest politicians in Thailand who has never ever been implicated in bribes or payoffs.

Do you know who his wife is? I'll give you a hint. She's Chairperson of the UDD. She is no friend of Thaksin.

Have you ever heard of Veerakorn Musikapong? He's a leader of the UDD. He also served in General Prem's government. He is not a Thaksin fan either.

According to you, not only am I wrong, but the political analysts at the foreign affairs ministries of multiple governments have it wrong too. What's next? Will you claim that reputable journalists have been reporting the situation incorrectly?

Not all red shirts are fans of Thaksin Shinawatra, the fugitive former prime minister, who backs the movement. But they are ready to join forces to evict a government that, in their eyes, lacks a democratic mandate. Mar 31st 2010 The Economist

Who wants to block the frequencies, of what sounds a relatively benign unit, so badly that he forks out B10,000 rent, wages and for expensive radio equipment? Why?

Do you really think he was paying for this himself ?.

Red-shirts are a political group who are controlled by Pheu-Thai (which of course means Mr T in reality) - somewhat akin to the Brown shirts in Germany. You should be asking WHO would want to jam these signals. It almost certainly wasn't the guy who did it.

The OMPC operates within the merchant marine sector collecting data, doing analysis and acting as a clearing house for technical data. Nothing is mentioned in the article as to a motive for allegedly blocking signals. What exactly was there to be gained politically by jamming signals? The allegations are rather strange. If anything this sounds more like a criminal enterprise than a political event. The use of the term "red shirt" is a convenient catchall. Whenever there is someone to blame, it is easy to call the person a "redshirt". What was the motive?

The Red Shirts are a term for the UDD, It has at times been closely aligned with the PTP, but it is an independent umbrella organization that encompasses a wide range of political groups. The claim that the UDD is controlled by the PTP or the former PM Thaksin is a simplistic explanation. The UDD includes right wing nationalists, social activists, right wing reactionaries, reformed communists, farmers groups etc. There is a significant faction that detests/loathes Thaksin, and that is putting it politely. Sometimes I think they hate Thaksin more than some of his detractors in TVF,

Yes, it was just a criminal enterprise, run by a common criminal and has nothing to do with the red shirts or PTP. The facts that Mr Chinnawat just happens to be a "key" red shirt leader, and a former PTP party list MP, are just as coincidental as the resemblance his adopted name has to the surname of a certain other family of common criminals. My, all those criminals. It's almost as if being one was a pre-requisite for admission to the upper levels of the UDD, and the PTP party list. Or both when it comes to this guy. And Jatuporn, And Weng. And Nattawut. And....... But there's no link between them. No siree.

And, from the OP: "Theerawat's three-year sentence was commuted to two as he provided useful testimony". So, the landlord knew enough useful information to get a year shaved off his sentence, but claims he knew nothing at all? There may be hope for Yingluck. "I know nothing". "That's useful information. Sentence is reduced by a year".

All excellent points.

So the only evidence that the landlord was colluding in the crime was that he was collecting rent money from the tenet of the apartment.... Yikes! Looks like the LoS might be a rough place to be in the rental-income business!

Probably because he was collecting 3-4 times the rental rate for that location.

If a landlord is offered even twice the going rate for his place, he would be automatically asking himself why this person would pay so much if not to use the place for some fishy business.

A landlord would never be offered twice the going rate for his place because anyone looking to rent would simply go to next vacant room in that building and pay market rental price.

This claim he was conspiring with the redshirt is ridiculous. If he was, why would he even charge rent in the first place?
