Resting on Their Laurels..

Featured Replies

It seems a large number of Thais are complacent to reach a certain level of achievement, and then take the foot off the gas and relax. Once these people have hit their goal, they will kick back, and let everyone know for the next twenty years what their achievement was.

For example, a person who studied abroad and received an advance degree, might not continue doing research and furthering their knowledge. Now that they have enough people to Wai for them, and their parents can tell their friends, this is enough.

Is this your observation too, or am I being too harsh?

So you have surveyed a statistcally significant portion of the Thai population to draw this conclusion or is this just an observation from your bar stool in Nakon Nowhere ?

much like myself.

who cares if you are successful..and work your fingers to the bone.

when you drop dead from a stroke/heart attack, just look up and see all the smiling faces who stand to make a few dollars on the inheritance. Silly western work ethics.

forget success....go for happy

I've been here for 9 years and have been pretty integrated. You know nothing about my background.

I actually agree, and it's pretty much the same philosophy I have, with the exception of the bragging part.. Although, I have nothing to brag about, lol.

Edit, first response was to the Soutpeel.

college of hard knocks....knock on no where

Woopie do, the old " i have been here longer than you and know everything about Thailand" gambit

Marks out of 10 = 2 = fail

You're proving yourself to not be that bright. While there is an average Thai Visa poster, not every Thai Visa poster is the same. I don't care how long you've been here. The only thing I know about you is that you're probably below average at most things while thinking you are a clever cynic.
