soitgoes769
Decided not to renew my teaching contract and will leave the country at the end of the contract and visa. Do I have to cancel and/or return my work permit book? I will be returning to Thailand later to take up another job. Thanks
ubonjoe
You should cancel the work permit before leaving. Your employer can do it. You are given back the old work permit after it is cancelled.

You are given back the old work permit after it is cancelled. I have had some problems with this employer. I worry they will not cancel it and cause me a problem in the future. I have to leave the country tomorrow. Can I send a Thai friend to the Ministry of Labor to cancel it for me?
rct99q
Your contract ends on July 29th? There are threads on here about some of the issues of leaving without providing notice etc. If you are considering coming back to work there have been few discussions in regards to having issues getting another work permit if your previous oneo was not cancelled correctly. If flying out usually not a problem. Leaving by a land border could present an issue depending on your current immigration status. Is your permission to remain in Thailand based on you having an extension because of being employed.
ubonjoe
You could have somebody cancel the work permit for you. You would have do a power of attorney for them to do it. Form to cancel the work permit and the power of attorney is here. http://wp.doe.go.th/wp/images/form/wp_cancellation.pdf
