It's been around for about nine months, unless you're thinking of the newly opened Snow Town at 5th Floor Gateway Ekamai.

There's not a massive amount to do at Harbin but it is kind of pretty. There's an ice bar / restaurant as well. It's good if you've got kids, there are ice slides and so on.

Prices
Entrance fee:
Thai: 350 THB
Foreigners: 550 THB

For rent:
Winter coat: 80 THB
Gloves: 60 THB

How to get there?
Harbin ICE wonderland is located just a few steps away from BTS station Bearing, Exit 2.

Snow Town is alright as well. Fairly big play area, 'snow fall' every hour (for a few minutes at least) - off the top of my head it's a bit cheaper than Harbin but doesn't have the glowing coloured ice, it's more of European feel.

Snow Town at Gateway Ekamai is pretty OK for the kids to throw some ice around. There are places to eat in there as well. It is not exactly cold but it is a nice place to getaway from the heat. Check out the rest of the edutainment places.

Again this double price politic? Something like this keeps me away from exploring things in this Country. I mean I already know even before I go there that it is a ripoff.

Cheers.

Agreed! Rich Thai businessman on half a million a month pays 350, poor Farang school teacher on 30 grand a month pays 550. Fair?

Wait, what? You just made up two fictional people which proves nothing. How about the poor Thai worker on 15 grand a month pays 350 baht, but a rich Farang businessman on one million a month pays 550. Now it's fair. (Unless you're suggesting that entry fees should be based on a sliding scale based on personal wealth or earnings, which is lovely wee socialist thought that I kind of agree with but imagine it would be incredibly hard to implement.)

As far as I remember anyway I just paid the Thai price anyway for Harbin because I was speaking Thai. But seriously, life's too short to let 200 baht prevent you from exploring things if you're actually interested in them.

There are plenty of ways to help locals get more favourable deals than saying big-eyes pay more. Annual membership schemes. family passes etc. As you say, if you speak Thai or have the all important driving licence you can usually get in for the local price unless the sales clerk hates foreigners.
