Any gym/swimming pool in bkk for tourists?

You know most tourists either use the swimming pool or the gym in their hotels while visiting say a few days or weeks.

Are there gyms out there that one can visit for a few hours as and when he likes as i understand most gyms probably require you to sign say a monthly pacakage to use them.

I would think that most hotel gym's would have a daily rate. I know the JW Marriott (Sukhumvit Soi 2, Bkk) does. Day, week, month, 3-month, 6-month, year.

In Thaniya Plaza there is a Clark Hatch (or maybe the name has changed) gym that allows day access. It is not particularly cheap and is just ok in terms of facilities.

RE Lumphini Gym and Pool: Gym, yes outdoor weights gym is very old school, quite a fun scene there it seems. Don't know about cost.

POOL and Fitness Center (as of 2013) are about in the middle of the park, nearest side to Rama 4 road: if you get a Thai doctor's note (very cheap) that you are healthy, pay 40 THB for the year and much less per visit, you can swim in their decent 25 m pool. Take the note and a passport photocopy with original to the Lumphini Youth Center reception desk, same location. They will make you a membership card (on the spot? not sure ...). The difficulty in this is limited hours. They have 90 minute sessions, close early evening, and close for lunch.

The fitness center requires LONG PANTS (?!?) but has nice modern machines and has Air Con.

How does one work out in long pants? Unless he wears those figure hugging tights that only girls wear.

If you staying near Kohsan Road, you can use the Buddy hotel as a non member. The pool (on roof) is not part of the gym or sauna, but you can pay for it separately. Follow the signs for the gym and ask for the current rates at the desk.

Theres a pool attached to fitness first at soi 39(sukhumvit) its on about the 7th floor and ive taken my gf there and used it. Theres a pool i think in high tech tower and rooms for 5000 thb and up per month. By the amount of farang up that soi, they must be charging the rooms out on a hotel website as serviced rooms not sure about gym but theres about 3 in the general area. Otherwise just look for a hotel with both a pool and a gym, as filters on hotel sites.

The pool at Emporium Suites gym has a 500 baht day rate. Go into Emporium Suites and ask the receptionists to let you up to the gym on floor 7 (you need an access card to operate the lifts).

It's convenient - you can get off the skytrain and walk through Emporium to get to it.

no point for me. Since i only stay in thailand 1 or 2 weeks tops every time i visit it's pointless to take up any classes.

sounds cool to be honest. Although if it rains well then i guess no workout.

RE Rain at Lumphini Pool: light rain is not a problem, and they aren't freaky paranoid about distant thunder as they are in the US. However, at times I tried to swim in moderate/heavy rain (no thunder) and they made me stop. Which is stupid. what? we'll get wet? LOL

The outdoor gym in Lumpini Park costs 20 baht to use, just rock up there and ask who is in charge.
I have used it many times and has old style equipment which provides a good workout.
Being an outdoor gym, quite a few of the weights contain rust.
And the benches are fairly skinny, so if you load up the bar the weight benches tend to dig into your back a bit.
