Indonesian foundation gives statesmanship award to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un

Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, daughter of Indonesia’s first president Soekarno, said that she plans to give the Soekarno Award to President of North Korea Kim Jong Un after recently meeting with North Korea’s ambassador to Indonesia Ri Jong Ryul.

The notion that Kim Jong Un is a dictator, according to Rachmawati, has come about from Western countries.

“That’s all just western propaganda,” Rachmawati said when the award was confirmed by Kompas.com on Friday.

She sees similarities between the reign of the North Korean supreme leader with that of her father’s reign during Indonesia’s post-independence era. According to her, western countries also considered Soekarno to be a dictator.

“It’s common [to be branded a dictator]. To stand on one’s principles in reaching a goal, many consider this the behavior of a dictator,” said founder and chief of the Soekarno Education Foundation.

Rachmawati thinks of Kim Jong Un as a person who is consistent in living out the idealism built by Kim Il Sung, his grandfather who was also the founder of North Korea.

As such, Rachmawati sees Kim Jong Un as having similar a vision to that of her father Soekarno, who was opposed to neo-colonialist imperialism (Nekolim).

The Foundation had previously handed the same award posthumously to Kim Il Sung in 2001 for his role in peacemaking and independence.

Looks like she's got her aim of creating some polemics and attract attention to her and her prize.

Everything that involves NK and Kim Jong Un (and it's not hard to get confused which is which) is so controverse.

Her mother was a bar girl, what do you expect? I knew them both, often meeting them at high society functions in Europe where they were "hangers on" . I did not like either of them nor did my friends.

Hopefully Kim Jong Un will travel to Indonesia to get his just rewards.

I can't imagine the mass psychic trauma which will ensue, when N. Koreans finally throw off the yoke of extreme oppression. Millions of people will need psychiatric help - it will be unprecedented. It will make the fall of Soviet Russia and the opening of East Germany look like a leap frog game in comparison. Plus, they'll need sustained welfare from other countries for at least a decade (even more than they're getting now).

Yes, the people truly love Fat Kim. He is a good man. He feeds all of his people, and shares a lot of his wealth with the common man. He makes sure they all have good health care, and recreation. We love him, not because it is a crime not to love him. We love him because he is such a cute teddy bear type, and he is so kind and compassionate. Yes, he does kill his family sometimes, but only when he has to.

I think Rachmawati is either living on another planet, was hired to do PR for Fat Kim, or is somehow on his payroll. The fact that he is a dictator is a figment of the imagination of the west? Yeah right.
