Updates Needed, Pinned List of Doctors

Let me give this subject its own thread in the hope we get a better response:

Many of you were really helpful in helping to compile "the pinned list of doctors", in the Chiang Mai forum, even more of you have used the list and found it really useful in trying to resolve your health related issues.

But now the list might be starting to get stale and it probably needs to be refreshed, for it to be of value we need to understand what changes should to be made, what new doctors should be added, existing ones removed because they no longer practice, and so on.

May I ask that you supply this thread with any relevant information and now that I have some more time I will begin, with Tywais, to modify the list.

It will be helpful if we can focus on doctors and quality and not on cost of service since the latter varies from person to person. Also, can I suggest that any discussion about removing a doctor from the list needs to be thoroughly supported and comments about them moderated, in light of the libel laws in Thailand.

I think it would be a tragedy to let the list become obsolete for lack of interest or effort, it's served many of us really well thus far. So perhaps with some help from the Chiang Mai forum membership we can make sure it remains useful for other newer members.

I suppose this is good news, since there's been no replies I can conclude the list has worked so well that Thai Visa Forum members no longer get sick, ergo the list can be deleted?

Well, I detect a note of disappointment, not good news.

Hang in there! I have already offerred you what I had some months ago, and I am still keeping my ear to the ground. Otherwise, chasing the miscellaneous threads which do have mentions is difficult.

I do believe that people appreciate what you are doing.

Other than the comment I made in your last thread a couple of weeks ago about Dr. Siri cutting back his practice considerably, I can't add anything.

Over the last 18 months I saw 2 doctors mentioned on the pinned list; Dr. Bannakit and Dr. Chanakarn. They are both excellent, and i would highly recommend them both.

Many thanks for the sentiments and kind words: Elektrified (for two posts); Mapguy (for the many PM exchanges on this subject); and Tywais (for his unwavering support and management of the more difficult issues), truly appreciated, really.

But to be clear, I am not disappointed, upset or lacking in enthusiasm about any of this. I was being perfectly sincere when I suggested we should abandon the project, it has served its purpose and the lack of views and/or responses to the subject suggest many possibilities: there are no material changes that need to be made; the current list is adequate for posters needs; nobody really cares; posters have identified the various doctors they want to be treated by and no longer need to ask who/where etc.,they now know.

I favour the last point above. I think enough information has now been spread around the expat community about health care in CM that it's no longer as difficult as it was couple of years ago to find a trusted medical specialist, the fact that the pinned list has been disseminated far and wide on the internet has helped that enormously, goodness, I even saw it on Facebook a couple of months back!

So, what I think we should do is to let this thread slip peacefully into the background, in the knowledge that if anyone should respond to it with updates, I will try my best to ensure they are updated into the list, in due course.
