PM to name new police chief on Friday
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The new police chief should be named on Friday, national police chief Pol General Somyot Pumpunmuang said Tuesday, adding that the final decision lay in the hands of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

He also said that he would accept Prayut's choice like a well-disciplined public servant, but would also be happy to provide suggestions and advise the PM about each candidate.

"I have no idea who the premier will choose, but I think the answer will be known by August 14, because the name will be proposed to the meeting," he said.

BANGKOK: -- THE new police chief should be named on Friday, national police chief Pol General Somyot Poompunmuang said yesterday, adding that the final decision lay in the hands of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

He said that he would accept Prayut's choice like a "well-disciplined policeman", but would also be happy to provide suggestions and advise the PM about each candidate.

"I have no idea who the premier will choose, but I think the answer will be known by August 14, because the name will be proposed to the meeting," he said.

There are five candidates for the job as per their seniority - Pol General Aek Angsananont, Pol General Pongsapat Pongcharoen, Pol General Wuthi Liptapanlop, Pol General Chalermkiat Srivorakan and Pol General Chakthip Chaijinda.

All the candidates hold the position of deputy national police chief and Somyot has tasked them with submitting a four-page letter expressing their vision. While Aek and Pongsapat only have one year before they retire, Wuthi will be in service until 2017, Chalermkiat until 2019 and Chakthip until 2020.

If he is prepared to apply the law equally to the rich and powerful, who cares. Or would you prefer someone's lackey?

When he's named check his bank balance and assets and then compare them 1 year down the line. Should make interesting reading I feel.!!

I'm sure a pay rise will come as part of the package smile.png

Possibly but like Sin Sod maybe you have to give some back to save face.

Alas the lackey gene will not be lacking in the choice.

Unfortunately, it seems like they're all someone's lackey, doesn't it?

In Thailand, it is all just a question of degree. Same as corruption.

The amnesty bill showed the extreme achieved by Pheu-Thai. The rest might be bad, but don't try to infer they are in the same league.

Get rid of the most putrid, rotten apples first then work your way up the barrel.

The departing chief should be sent on his way with a boot up his @rse as he goes out the door.

as the current n*1 hasn't achieved his big purchase of new guns nor the casinos legalising (with the huge bribes that go hands to hands) before retiring , i imagine his successor wil pay the full price biggrin.png

i repeat and precise : i think to strip all these cops who are currently failing seriously in their job, is more useful than being the lackey of this divine savior of thailand who have (i think) too much nightmares everynight about T. whistling.gif

as i already wrote he must have only 2 balls for this
