Thailand expects nearly 1 million Chinese tourists in October

Okay, look at the photo in the OP, and look at the girl on the right. There seems to be a load of people on ThaiVisa who have got something against Chinese tourists.

Now then, after looking at the picture, who on earth in their right mind is going to be against the Chinese tourists ??

Get real, everybody is crying out for more Chinese tourists. Actually, there's more women that look like her in China itself. There'a a few Chinese airlines that can sell you a cheap ticket to China. And if you're lucky, you'ill see Chinese women looking just like her at the airport or on the flight to China. smile.png

Actually, an idea to boost tourism in Thailand. Target Thai Airways and subsidise the routes from China to Thailand. That will boost the number of Chinese tourists. And with more women like the one on the right turning up in Thailand, well yes, this will cause more men from other countries to visit Thailand. Get it on !!

What!

Expect what you want. Now that the Chinese money has hit a new low does Thailand have to lower there baht even more? ! million Chinese tourist looks great but i hope you did not bet you job on it!

The Baht was already lower to the dollar. Now that China has also devalued the yuan the exchange rate YUAN / THB is exactly the same as it was a month ago.

I was chased in the waters off Koh Larn once by a horde of fat Chinese women who wanted to touch the skin of a white guy.....Still have nightmares.

Brings back memories of my time in Vietnam about 10 years ago. Sitting at a bus stop in Hanoi, two Viet ladies next to me talking away, the one next to me stroking the hairs on my forearm because she thought I was hairy like a monkey.

I drank a lot while in that country.

or otherwise around ?

your forarm stroked her hairs - and - and - ??

OK, put the banana down and step away from the porno movie..................slowly..........................biggrin.png

China should just go ahead and annex Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai...bring them back to their roots...

After looking at the photograph, especially considering what's written on the right girl's T-shirt, I'll never ever write a Chinese bashing post again.

She doesn't look like she'd spit in my pool.....

" I want more." Oh, yes.

Does anybody know her facebook username? I think I fell in love with China. wub.png

I rarely see Chinese in departures with bags of duty free, whatever gifts they buy must be in their check in luggage.

I rarely see them eating or spending in departures either, and I and fly in and out every 8 weeks.

Last time I flew into swampy immigration was empty at 0930 no queues and not choka with Chinese either.

I will be flying back in on Sunday, same timings and if so can will take pictures. Maybe DM is seeing a bigger Chinese contingent?

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you have a billion visitors, unless they're spending is in proportion to their numbers, it means nothing.

It's like having a garage and have lots of interest but no sales.

maybe you should get out more...

What is the big drive to get more Chinese tourists? They come in groups, rubber neck, take photos and get back on a bus, .. spend nothing and have no respect for Thai culture or customs. You'd be better to get back the European, Aussies, Americans and other Farang your rules and regulaztions chased away. They respect Thai ways and spend money

Ho Ho Ho. I laugh on you. They treat Thailand as a sperm receptacle and a vomitoreum.

Not all of them, mind you. But the Chinese I run into are more polite than the average Euro or Aussie or US tourist. (Canadians generally get high marks from me- so polite they're spooky)

Of course, you won't even know they're Chinese if they blend right in... You only notice the knotheads.

Could be worth considering that probably most Chinese booked months ago and are still coming despite a small devaluation of the Yuan.

Having had a Chinese girlfriend would suggest economic matters are of no small concern to them, especially if you consider the female to male ratio in China.

Most countries would kill for more tourists from Taiwan and Singapore...money, reliable, polite, clean. Many of the mainland independent tourists are the same. The groups are a bit problematic but only through their inexperience. They will get better. People used to go on and on about Japanese tour groups being a pain...that is no longer heard.

99% of the time, TAT is ridiculed here on TVF. Unless, of course, their actions support some agenda. I get the sense yours is one of those agendas.

Aren't you a little embarassed to look to TAT to validate your disdain for the Chinese?

I don't believe the TAT is needed to validate any disdain for the Chinese http://static.thaivisa.com/forum/uploads/monthly_08_2015/post-147745-0-14676400-1439547828_thumb.jpg Dear God .. bah.gif

Is this a made up statistic from thin air?

1 million divided by 31 days is 32000+ everyday.

1 777 houses 320-380 people on average.

Will there be 90-100 Boeing 777 or 250-350 Boeing 767/ Airbus 320 landing everyday at Swampy from just China alone?

One should really look at the arrival display which flight arrived and what kind of aircraft it was before making sensationalist claims.

Of the millions of Chinese tourists, I don't think photos of 2 of them can really be held out as representing the behavior of the other millions.

Decorum (and the moderators) prevent me from posting pictures of the "preferred tourists" passed out in a puddle of their own vomit on the streets and beaches of Thailand.

But I don't hold out that all Aussies, Brits and Yank tourists are drunken louts. Each group has its characters. Behavior we grow up with doesn't faze us when we travel overseas. That includes drunks passed out in their own mess. It doesn't include the odd behaviors of the Chinese, or the Russkies, or the Middle Easterners, or... But make no mistake, we all have our quirks and each group has its knotheads.

I got BLIND drunk at a Taipei bar once with a bunch of Chinese guys (Gam-BAY!), stumbled out & had NO IDEA where I was. I was only 2 blocks from my hotel though.

99% of the women there are RUFF looking, so I had no tour guide. I found some scantily clad beetle-nut gal that pointed me in the general direction of my hotel, bless her heart.

That gal on the right looks very much like the one that cut my hair in Taipei once. Cute as hell!

Quite the rarity, as most looked like the one on the left. Fat/chunky with zero sense of style.

She wanted to wash my hair first & that's when I caught a whiff of her breathe... Not saying my breathe smelled like pumpkin pie at all.

Quite sure I wreaked of Marlboros & Jack Daniels & toothpaste.

She was super cute & her breathe smelled like dead, rotten fish, about 25 years old and I don't think she had ever seen a toothbrush in her lifetime. She had more butter on her teeth than a decent slice of toast should ever see.

What a bummer!

I grabbed some (what I thought was kim-chi cabbage) once at a restaurant in Taipei........It was pickled duck feet.

--------

At the hotel breakfast buffet one morning & the American/Chinese couple, replete with 8 year old kid were trying to eat breakfast.

It was B-A-D food all around. The couple were having a grand old time laughing at the kid, who was saying rather loudly, in perfect American English, "This food sucks!".

I used to smuggle a fork out of the hotel with me for lunch. Yes I can use chopsticks, but why, when I have a fork handy?

See. You get it. Traveling the globe is about meeting people who are different. Not better. Not worse. Different.

Think of all the stories you'd be missing out on if they all acted like the knobs back home.

"Went to China and it was jam packed with people just like my neighbors back home..." What's the point?

"Went to Thailand and hung out in a bar with a bunch of blokes from the next town over." Why bother with the flight?

"Went to Thailand and saw a gorgeous babe drop trou and wiz all over a patch of weeds." Now there's a story.

Between 16-20 flights in and out of the country per annum isn't enough to make such observations then?

Why would they buy duty free? Whatever they can buy here would be cheaper back home.

As for departures airside, given the rip off prices I certainly wouldn't buy any food there. Get food at Family Mart and take it through to eat inside.

Anyone know the name of the movie, and if it is/ was showing/ shown in Thailand?

"Lost in Thailand"

Thanks. As it was made in 2012 I guess the DVD shop is the only place to look for it now.

If TAT were smart, they'd hire a Chinese director and do a sequel. It did for Chinese tourism what "The Beach" did for western tourism.

Given the type of tourists that The Beach has brought to Thailand, it is worth noting that they are of the sort that Richard despised facepalm.gif .

No doubt. But their money spends just as good...

Edit: And besides, every real life tourist is the sort that Richard despised. He was an elitist, and an appropriate last name for him would be Head. Most of us have to actually work for a living and take our holidays on life's terms. Except in the movies...
