UFUN member arrested in Buri Ram
The Sunday Nation

BURIRAM: -- A cellphone shop owner in Buri Ram's Lahan Sai district has been arrested for alleged involvement in the UFUN Thailand scandal.

Pol Colonel Angkul Klaikleung, deputy chief of the Consumer Protection Police Division, told a press conference yesterday that Winai Hengmakyos, 41, was wanted under a June 23 arrest warrant for allegedly being a key "downline" member of arrested suspect Namonpan Thara-bundit in the alleged pyramid scheme.

Angkul said the police probe found that Winai wired Bt1.7 million to Namonpan's account 10 times for a total of Bt17 million, and that Winai had 40 members in his team with an investment sum of Bt40 million.

Winai told the press that he joined the scheme last August and had increased his capital money to Bt7 million - but allegedly got only Bt500,000 in return.

He said he did not file a police complaint because his mum had a heart condition and he did not know an arrest warrant had been issued against him, so he just hoped the case would end quietly.

appropriately named, it does not sound like a lot of funsad.png

Yeah, right.

"just hoped the case would end quietly",I think everyone involved

was hoping that.

I have been following the news about uFun

So its just another Ponzi scheme?

That is, get more people to join and you use the new money to pay the earlier joined members. It seems a bit more than that with the followers losing all money invested and the "team member' sucking dry their contributions. Is that right?

regards

Ponzis/pyramids must be a breeze to get going in Thailand.

Poor education/lack of extrapolation skills/greed/herd instinct. Thainess.

[Love 'em/love it here nonetheless]
