First time in Thailand, and first Thai "girlfriend"

So I met this girl in Thailand. Via thaifriendly I was the first person to message her apparently. Saw the new member tag and went for it. Turns out we are having great times besides the struggling language barrier. Here is the thing I'm not sure about the cultural things to watch out for. She texts me everyday saying she misses me. Tells me she thinks she is falling in love. Every time we go out (once or twice a week) she always wants to pay for it or doesn't like me buying it all. First date we went on she bought my meal. She started holding hands with me, but seems like she doesn't enjoy me touching her back. Also I try to kiss her head to intiant something, but she always pulls away and says her hair is dirty or something. She seems distance yet always messages me how much she misses me. Is dating thai a matter of immense patience or is this a different situation?

Please enlighten me on what's going on with the Thai side of dating.

Peoples experience will vary, the problem you are going to have here is that rarely posts like yours are genuine, and hence you are wide open for type of responses you are receiving, these posts are so often used as "trolling" they are seldom answered as a potentially real "ask for help and guidance".

Only other comment I will make on the head touching aspect, Thais consider it a "no" as is never touch the head of a child either, depending on her family, background, and area she is from, these customs etc will vary dramatically. You are at the start of huge learning curve. Good luck, be careful, if not sure "ASK HER" then listen and check , then check again you are not mis-led

Keywords like 'I miss you' ' I love you' get over used in the absence of language to hold a meaningful conversation. If it bothers you, as it has me before, I come out and ask 'how can you love someone you just met?', it always gets a defensive and interesting response.

There are many nice ladies out there, unfortunately lots of them are just interested in having a Westerner improve the quality of their (and their families) life and give them a cute half-cast baby.

Thais are shy and tend to pull away particularly when kissing and even more particularly in public. They'll do all sorts of things u'd never imagine and usually on a first date but kissing they struggle with. Some get to like it and some never do. If she's an Isaan girl she may be terrified of her breath if she's just wolfed down some som tam. Ask her?

I would be wary of Thai dating sites. Doesn't mean she's a bad person or going to take u for all you own but she'll probably have her nets cast far and wide and may have many on the go. Not to say she's sleeping with everyone but she'll be getting a lot of pak wan (BS) from men too and she'll be keeping many options open. I don't know. Unless she's fresh to the dating scene a girl on a thai dating site is about as safe a prospect as a bird in a bar. They just seem to get the idea that if one white buffalo doesn't play the game there's plenty more

I used to have bets with myself on how long it would take for the first request for money. Normally 2 weeks they test the water. Would always start to get my hopes up after week 6 if no stories that I'd found Mrs right but usually dissapointed. Was always 20k thb first request too. Never more never less. They must learn that at school or something. They're cunning but not too smart usually. Pretty easy to play them back at their own game. What I've found is that Thai girls find it very easy to lie in English. Thai girls can say in English "I love you" and it won't mean as much as saying it in Thai. I assume the OP has been speaking exclusively in English with his "GF."
