Leaving by land at Nong Khai with ED visa

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm going to go to Vientiane to get a tourist visa towards the end of the month, I am currently on an ED visa.
Do I need a cancellation letter from the school or have they stopped asking for that when leaving by land at Nong Khai ?

thanks

Cancellation letter is not really the issue.

If you go to school every week, asking your school to print it is easy.

The real issue is ; Are they going to make you go to immigration office, miss the embassy application time, and will you have to stay in bleeding Vientiane one more day or even 3 if weekend.

There are conflicting reports about that...

If you take the cancellation letter to your local immigration office, they can cancel the visa for you, post dated. That way, you don't have to worry about being delayed at the border when you leave.

I just did so without any cancellation letter. It was the end of my year, and was switching to another visa type, but nobody ever gave me a second glance or asked anything about it.

Was that at the Nong Khai border crossing?

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Yes.
