There are some folks posting on Thai Visa that think the Thai government has a national database that tracks movement of every foreigner in Thailand by way of a TM-30 form every time the farang moves somewhere for more than 48 hours.

I think it is a myth. I don't think there is any up to date database that tracks foreigner in Thailand.

I think France does it. America does not. I don't think Thailand does either.

It would be easy to find bombers but the amount of paperwork and personal necessary to coordinate such an undertaking is beyond the scope of Thailand. For example look at the online 90 day reporting.

It would be simple to ask foreigners to report movements online but I doubt that the expertise exists in Thailand to implement such a system let alone to suggest it is already up and functioning.

OK that's my rant for the day. Thank you for listening. wai2.gif

I think what your suggesting is a myth as well...

but the fact is your 90 day reports are put into a data base, one suspects TM-30's are put into a data base, and one suspects every entry and exit from Thailand is put into a data base, but the key is for your myth to work, it would have to be the same data base or linked data bases, which I suspect they are not...

there isnt some Somchai from Thailands version of MI5 or the CIA, who can bring up a farangs location and details in the blink of an eye

I agree. If my 90 day reports were put into a national data base I'd be able to do them online. I can't.

I think they are put into a local database that only connects to me and one office.

Which is really silly. They have all the information to start a national 90 day reporting system but are not using it.

There has to be 100 guys on Thai Visa who could straighten out the problem in a few days. Eh?

Immigrations now collect all 90-day reports in a ready to work set-up national database. That´s what the officer told me during my 90 day report done in February this year.

I would not rely on myths telling you that the data collecting is a myth !

If that were true mine would work. It does not. But that's not really what the thread is about. It's about doing a TM 30 form every time you leave home for 48 hours. Have you ever done a TM 30 Mr. Crazy? Ah ha I thought not. Would you believe there are people right here on Thai Visa who are telling us that not doing a TM 30 makes the foreigner liable for a fine?

I agree with lostoday. there is no national database for the 90 day reportings as I too cannot complete mine online and I suspect that reason is because my address is in Chonburi but all of my 90 days reports have been done in BKK.... hence when I try to do it online it fails as Iam not in the system at my local immigration place.

As for tm-30 forms... <deleted>, why would I fill one of them out and submit every time I go away for a couple of days.... bwahahahahahaha

No one would except for the posters on Thai Visa who say it is a government requirement and if you don't you will be fined. I'm sure they will be along eventually to tell me just how wrong I am as there are three other threads (at least) running now about this topic.wai2.gif
