BANGKOK: -- A Nok Air flight bound for Nakhon Si Thammarat from Bangkok’s Don Meuang airport made an emergency landing in Surat Thani after the plane struck a bird while on airborne.

Nok Air’s flight DD7805 left Don Meuang airport at about 7.40 am for Nakhon Si Thammarat with about 200 passengers and crew members on board. But after about 20 minutes in flight, the captain informed the passengers that the plane had developed technical problem and had to land at the Surat Thani airport.

The plane landed safely and all passengers and crews were told to disembark and to wait at the passengers’ reception room while technicians checked the plane to identify the cause of the problem.

It was reported that a big bird got stuck in one of the plane’s engines causing the problem which led the caption to make the emergency landing in Surat Thani.

Until press time at 11 am, the plane was still being fixed and passengers were still waiting for the flight to resume.

BANGKOK, 30 August 2015 (NNT) – The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has assured the public of full security protection around the clock while the investigation of the August 17 explosion is being expedited.

In the wake of the Ratchaprasong bombing, Spokesperson of the NCPO Col Winthai Suvaree reported that 31 victims are still recuperating from their injuries at various hospitals. As for a bomb suspect who was arrested at an apartment in Bangkok’s Nong Chok district recently, the spokesperson affirmed the police are in the process of interrogating him and examining all evidence which will take some time before any conclusions could be made.

In the meantime, Col Winthai said both police and military officers have been deployed to patrol all areas considered prone to disturbances 24 hours a day. He also asked public members and tourists to have faith in authorities’ ability to maintain peace and order and ensure their safety.

Moreover, the NCPO Spokesperson urged everyone to refrain from publicizing their personal opinions regarding the bomb incident and to exercise caution when sharing information on social media as they could disseminate false information to the international community and unknowingly damage the country’s image.
