The lone suspect in the brutal slaying of a 9-year-old boy in Koh Kong province was tracked down to a prison in Thailand on Friday, three months after the investigation into the 2009 killing was reopened.

On December 18, 2009, Sok Phan walked into a busy classroom in Kon Kuk Primary School carrying a large knife and asked Yoeun Pov Rattanak where his father was. The youngster responded that he did not know.

In full view of the class, including his own son, Phan dragged Rattanak outside and slit the child’s throat, before slicing his stomach so deep some of his insides spilled out.

Just horrific stuff happens in these S.E. Asian, deeply religious, Buddhist countries, and all too often. Could you find a story like that in fiction? this is a terrible case to kill a poor defenceless child in this manner because of an altercation with the father really is beyond belief the product of a sick mind he should get the ultimate penalty .

I am more surprised that it took them that long to find him and his family, not that great a concern to them in those days, glad it was re-opened and other people where left to find him, and they did, scum bag, deserves the death penalty, and left in the hands of the dead boys parents to apply it, how so sad that a child can not even be protected in a school classroom
