PHNOM PENH (Xinhua) -- Cambodia earned tax revenue of around 22 million U.S. dollars from casino industry in the first six months of this year, up 83 percent from the 12 million U.S. dollars it made over the same period last year, a senior finance official said Tuesday.

"Most of the revenue came from NagaWorld casino in Phnom Penh and those along Cambodian border with Thailand," said Ros Phirun, deputy director-general of the Finance Ministry's financial industry department.

He said currently, 59 casinos have being operated in this Southeast Asian nation. All of them have been built along the border areas and in Preah Sihanouk province, except one casino, the Malaysian-owned NagaWorld, which is located in Phnom Penh capital.
