An unidentified British business manager was left chest-deep in much after he fell down this uncovered sewer hole late last night north of Bangkok in Pathum Thani.

PATHUM THANI — A 46-year-old British national had to be rescued after falling into an uncovered sewer hole last night in northern metropolitan Bangkok.

The Briton sustained minor injuries after rescue workers fished him from the hole, which witnesses said he fell into after leaving a nearby restaurant with two friends at around 11:30pm, leaving him chest-deep in sewer muck.

Fortunately he was walking with several friends who then sought help from local residents, who alerted police. The British man reportedly manages a business in Thailand.

Not a story you want to brag about on your Facebook page, I suppose.

British national + Bangkok night out + 11.30 pm + uncovered manhole = drunk as a skunk

Does that equation compute?

British national + Bangkok night out + 11.30 pm + uncovered manhole = drunk as a skunk

Does that equation compute?

11:30 pm = dark

open manhole cover = terrible safety standards in Thailand

British national = not raised in a third world country with third world safety standards

If they were leaving the bar at 11:30 pm on a weeknight, I wouldn't assume they were falling down drunk. This guy is lucky to be alive. He easily could have hit his head on the way down and drowned in a river of shit. In a first world country multiple people would be fired for this, and he'd probably be suing the city for negligence, but TiT...

And ended up smelling like a skunk...

Just because you drink to excess on a night out, why do you assume everyone else does?

Wow.

That must have been really scary, not knowing if you would disappear totally and drown.

Glad that he was rescued, if he had been alone who knows what could have happened

No doubt the unidentified manager felt drained after being hauled out of the sewers.

Is he an example of the brain drain from the UK? A man gutted by the sombre grey terraces of Rotherham for example.?

Sadly he plumbed new depths.Still, if he's from the north he'll survive, for where there's muck, there's brass.

Just because you are always "drunk as a skunk" every night after 11.30pm., does not mean that others are.

You don't sustain minor injuries from falling down that thing!

Good Lord! Who are they kidding?

God only knows what infections he's in the process of catching right now. I mean, he's bound to have had an open wound somewhere on his body/legs.....

I have just read that he vowed to take legal action too. I hope all his paperwork is in order for the business that he manages. Call me jaded/experienced, but he could be inadvertently heading for trouble. Up s**t creek without a paddle so to speak. I wish him all the best on his quest.

No, he was not British at all, he was American, Chuck Norris, who just tried to take off the dirt from his shoes, and the concrete got broken ...

I empathize as once I fell into a sewer in the middle of the day and smelled for days. The look at got at 7/11 was priceless, covered in tar like substance. In my drinking days of course.

Good thing it wasn't raining or he'd have been flushed out in Jomtien somewhere.
