I currently hold a retirement visa extension which I plan to convert to a marriage extention in early November in Bangkok. (Ease the financial burden).

I am familiar with the documentation requirements, no problem.

Two things seem a little vague though reading several posts.

1. The kor ror 2 must be up to date? Mine is dated 30th June, is that considered up to date? Getting a new one is no problem but don't want to waste my wifes time unnecessarily.

2, Conflicting stories as to whether a witness is required armed with Id and tabien bahn.

Any info on this would be appreciated, thanks

For the sake of 20 baht and 10 minutes I.....wife always get a new one the same day as bank letter. I believe though people use ones a few years old. First extension required a witness with ID and book, she was interviewed for less than a minute

When I applied for my last extension at CW recently they accepted my Kor Ror 2 that was 6 months old. As for the witness, CW has never asked for a witness but require a good map to your residence and an IO may talk with neighbors and visit your residence. Other immigration offices may be different.

you might want to check with ubonjoe but I'm pretty sure you cannot convert 1 type extention into another type extention. as for the witness, it's better to have 1 and not need them than to not have 1 and need them. :)

Many thanks for the advice given. I will follow it. I'll get an "up to date" kor ror 2 a couple of days before my application.

I will also take a witness with me. My wife did call their call centre and was told a witness wasn't required. However in my experience everything is at the vetting officers discretion which of course means the rule book is thrown out the window (if there is one) and they do what they like. Better to play it safe.
