BANGKOK: -- Danish Nicky Vendelbo Jakobsen and his four friends danced their way to the top and won ‘Thai Got Talent’ 2015. Together with the acknowledged title the prize also consist of a check of 10 million Thai baht – or 1,8 million Danish kroner.

Nicky Vendelbo and his dancing group were among 1500 other contestants to compete for the money prize and the grand title. Karen Marie Jakobsen is the proud grandmother.

“It’s only one year ago Nicky and his group began dancing and practising”, Karen Marie Jakobsen says.

Nicky Vendelbo Jakobsen and the four other boys Phairat “Trai” Srisawat, Thanayut “Pond” Ardjai , Pholkit “Earth” Phimrueang, and Sawit usually dance with a 15-member group called Young PK Step, which coach Tae founded last year as the school’s “To Be Number One” club. Young PK Step won the top prizes at the regional and national “To Be Number One Teen Dancercise Thailand Championships 2015” and received scholarships and a trophy from Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya, who initiated the “To Be Number One” anti-drug campaign and remains its patron.

Nicky Vendelbo is born in Denmark and has Danish citizenship. He moved with his family to Thailand 10 years ago to the hometown of Nicky’s Thai mother. He says “Hi, my name is Nicky, and I am 14 years old” in fluent Danish.

His grandmother Karen Marie Jakobsen has already an idea how he should spend his money prize.

“Studying in Thailand is expensive, so the money should be used for his college”, Karen Marie Jakobsen says.

There's also the fact that the '..... Got Talent' shows are absolutely awful when it comes to actual talent. These people would struggle to get a job on a cruise ship :D

I think in the States they get to perform in Vegas? UK, I am not sure what they get. What is the 'prize' in Thailand, just money?
