Pattaya — Thai social media users are outraged after a video surfaced online showing male tourists blatantly urinating on Pattaya Beach.

The video, posted by a Facebook user with the caption “Swimmers swim, and urinators urinate,” quickly went viral in a popular Pattaya Facebook group with over 200,000 members.

The incident sparked widespread outrage, with many Thais, especially Pattaya locals, questioning why the beachgoer didn’t use the available restrooms.

 

They also expressed concerns that the tourists’ reckless behaviors could ruin Pattaya’s reputation as a world-class family friendly tourist destination and deter other tourists from visiting Pattaya City.

 

Local journalists went to investigate the incident scene and confirmed that it took place on Pattaya Beach. The urination occurred late at night or early in the morning on September 17th, likely after the individuals had been drinking.

At least they weren't pissing on a passenger while on a flight to India which, remarkably, has happened several times. Completely different cultural values I reckon.

clearly an abuse of  a restricted occupation ..

 

correct  restricted version is peeing on the side of the road standing in plain view of on comming traffic

Why is there not outrage at the rubbish driving

But netizens only seem outraged if it is done by foreigners. See a Thai doing it and noone bats an eye. Although taking a crap in the sea while on a boat does not show preference to this. But taking a pee out in public I always thought as normal in Thailand. Something seen almost daily. 

Not condoning this action by tourists.

However there are a complete lack of toilet facilities in the area.

This despite millions of baht allocated to so called improvements every year.

Almost peed myself when I read this.

Good "job" he wasn't Chinese.

For years they have talked about restroom facilities being built.  The current options are a few places on the other side of the road for 10 b.

Horrifying! I never piss in public, but the ocean is fair game. Bus all the full-bladder pissers to city hall so they can make a point.

Yes my thought too.... pass many a parked vehicle with the driver wetting a nearby bush or wall. Where are the public urinals on the Beach Rd (free would be best, build them with the 300 baht tourist tax that is being touted again!)

I wonder how many gallons of fish pee people are swimming in... and nobody complains about the fact that the beach is the birds bathroom...🤪 


No... I wouldn't advocate humans behaving like the animals... just wondering if people have ever even given it a thought.

This is a ridiculous statement, Pattaya has always been a sex city and always will be. Any who takes their children there is very foolish..

It isonly allowed for Thais to urinate in public in all places.. even just before the entrance of the Big C in Phetchaburi, instead of going inside to the toilet.... Netizens are are the ones who makes problems and chase everybody away, as they seems to be perfect in wisdom and behavior

I go to the beach with Thai friends all the time and whenever a (Thai) guy needs to take a whiz he walks down to the water and let's fly.

Though they don't do it in broad daylight but even after dark it's kind of obvious what they are doing.
If you're going to pee in the middle of the day, everyone knows you walk out into the water until it's up to your shorts and then pretend to enjoy the vibrant scenery while all the sea life around you dies.

And how many times have you been on a road somewhere in the middle of the day and there's a scooter or car or truck pulled over to the side and a guy standing there "watering the weeds".

And if I recall, there's not a lot (or any) public bathrooms along Pattaya Beach at all. There's a couple widely spaced apart on Jomtien but the only ones I know of on Pattaya Beach are across Beach Road and are "pay to pee" (I think it's only 5 baht, 10 if you want a couple thin sheets of tissue paper).
 

I don't think it was particularly blatant. Turning the other way would have been.

It does not say foreign tourists.  It could easily be Thai tourists.

From what I've read in the past they are just cutting out the middle man by going direct into the sea.

Ask A Thai if they urinate in the swimming pools?.
