Maybe if Thailand had tried to keep development in check 15 years ago, the country's islands and other once beautiful areas would be more pleasant to visit. You reap what you sow.

The truth is, other neighbouring countries, Burma, Vietnam etc are now more interesting for tourists.

Well the Thai B2B sector has been dropping for over a year right now. Our B2B internet provider dropped with 80% since a year. Last month we were having mostly customers from overseas.

The Thai market dropped about 80-90%. Not only the internet business is going down. Also importers losing by the day. Original European sunglasses import dropped over 65% in the last 2 months. The perfume business dropped over 75%.

And it is not because of the bombing. We all know that it is a lousy excuse !!!

Thailand is living on a giant soap bubble for years !!!

people will come if they want to come to Thailand a little matter of a bomb wont deter many hardened tourists but I think the Chinese are very frightened for themselves Thailand has been on the downturn now for several years with all these news programs doing specials on country that would rip you off given half a chance scams from the airport on arrival to scamming at the airport on departure, most tourists just want a relaxing break not having to be on the look out every minute of their annual holiday for scammers.

Just take a look at the number of Farangs walking on the streets near Asoke, or any area as an example. There are not very many and shop owners say the number is way down, and say its now because of fear of the bombing. I think it has to do more with the state of the economy in thier home country. Will it continue? I don't know, but if it does it's not good for the fragile Thai economy plus the weakened Baht adds to the worry.

The weakened Baht is good for tourists.

The other day it was reported the bombing had NO effect on tourist

numbers, now the truth has seemed to come out,how can you believe

anything that is reported here,it came from TAT so it must be true biggrin.png

regards Worgeordie

Spell TAT backwards and you'll get the same shit every time. Their optimism is mind-boggling to a point of severe stupidity.

The baht is down 15 to 20% versus the dollar over the last 5 years. You think prices for package holidays are down that much?

Fuel is way down, but the prices stay solid.

facepalm.giffacepalm.giffacepalm.gif but it can not be I thought BANGKOK, 7 September 2015 (NNT) - Col Winthai Suwaree, spokesperson of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) gave a daily statement on TV Pool pertaining to the Bangkok explosion that foreigners are still confident in security measures and a great number of them were visiting famous tourist attractions in Thailand.

Boy that word confident really gets a workout in Thailand. Its like a yo-yo in the news one day confidence is up the next SLIGHTLY down. If TAT was a quarterback in a football game they would more than likely score on their own goal. Kind of reminds me of the old joke listed on here earlier Who is on first, What is on second. At least you know that is a joke but TAT hmm makes one wonder. Would like to take them at face value but I think they are to determined to save face and not much else.

What ? No mention of the overcharging, Jet Ski Scams, Poor customer service, food poisoning, and the likelyhood of being killed on the roads ( or on an Island trip via boat ) in the report as a contributary factor.
