Hi all,

I just got my Non Immigrant O-A visa issued. the visa states enter before 07th sept 2016 with multiple entries marked as M.

This means that

I can enter and exit as many times as I want within this one year period subject to the condition that each stay does not exceed 90 days. (unless i get this extended for one year as retirement extension).

I do not need any re-entry permit as long as i enter again before 07th sept 2016

if i stay less than 90 days in one stretch, i do not need any kind of 90 day reporting.

is there anything else i need to do? i intend making few visits each stretching for about sixty to eighty days and get my retirement extension only at the last entry. is that the best way to go about.

thanks a million in advance to all the BM

regards

An O-A will give you one year on each entry.

If you stay less than 90 days, correct, no reporting.

Enter just before the 7th of Sept 2016 and you will get another one year permission to stay. If you leave during the second year you'll need a re-entry permit to keep you permission to stay date.

Follow the advice of TerryLH and you have (almost) two years without the need to apply for extension.

Just re-entry permit needed for second year.

Yes, that is the M, for multiple. You can stay out of Thailand for as long as you want, there is no "not to exceed 90 days" You can stay out as long as you want, so long as you return before your visa expires

Correct, and every time you enter during the first year your stamped "permission to stay" will be extended by 12 months. During the second year if you want to leave you can purchase a single re-entry permit for 1,900 THB at Immigration or Bangkok Airport

Yes, leave and return right before your Visa expires to obtain an additional year before you have to go through the paper process of obtaining a permission to stay at Immigration. Why not put it off for a year, since you paid enough for the O-A visa

During the second year you'll need to purchase a re-entry permit. A single re-entry is 1000 baht, not 1900 baht as mentioned in the previous post. A multiple re-entry is 3800 baht. The re-entry permit will expire when your permission to stay expires.
