webfact
Jealous Thai stepmother confesses to strangling sleeping stepson, aged 6Image: Khaosod.co.thANG THONG - A Thai woman has admitted murdering her 6 year old stepson because she was jealous the boy’s father loved the child more than her.The boy was found unconscious and bleeding from the mouth at the apartment where he lived with his father Mr. Ittichai, 27, and his stepmother, Mrs Sureeporn, 37.After investigation by police forensic teams and with autopsy results which confirmed the boy died from a lack of oxygen to the brain, police from the Wiset Chai Chan district called in the boy's stepmother for questioning, where she admitted strangling her stepson, reports Khaosod.According to Khaosod, the boy had only recently come to live with his father and stepmother, having previously stayed with his birth mother in Kanchanaburi. However, since the boy had begun living with his father and stepmother, Mrs Sureeporn said that she became jealous that his father seemed to not really pay her any attention or care about her because he was too busy caring for his son.Mrs Sureeporn, a nurse, is said to have previously had a disagreement with the boys father over sleeping arrangements. Mrs Sureeporn wanted the boy to sleep in his own bedroom. However, his father wanted him to continue sleeping in the bedroom he shared with Mrs Sureeporn. On the night of the murder, the stepmother returned home from work to find the boy sleeping. Reports say she then put on a pair of surgical gloves and strangled the boy before tucking him back in bed as if nothing had happened. The boy was rushed to hospital but tragically died a short time later.Police have charged the stepmother with willful murder and have taken her in for further legal proceedings.Source: Khaosod -- 2015-09-

theanimaster
I sense there's going to be a sequel to this. The father will not rest until justice is served, and I trust he will make it slow and painful.
TallGuyJohninBKK
WOW!!!! This today, and just yesterday's news about the Thai husband who went berserk in a Samut Prakan mall and knifed his wife to death after she had told him to wanted to leave him. And the news a week or so back about the teenage school girl who died after being beaten/abused by her jealous classmates. A troubling picture of domestic life here in Thailand (not that LOS has any exclusive on these kinds of tragedies).
dageurreotype
From my experience with Thai nurses, this story doesn't surprise me one little bit. Please elucidate. Are Thai nurses known to be nasty and if so why? Let's put it this way. If there were some sort of mental health screening for those planning a career in nursing, only those passing Hare's Checklist for psychopathy would be eligible. zaphod reborn
I just hope RTP got some corroborating evidence, such as the stepmother's fingerprints or dna on the poor boy's neck. No conspiracy theory, but I frequently see the RTP put 100% faith in a suspect's statement (like the two Uighurs in custody for the bombings). It is possible that the stepmom could cover up for the father, knowing that she would receive a much lighter sentence than him if she confessed. I fear the RTP always takes the easy way out, and once they have enough to show the public they have done their job, they end their investigation, with total disregard for determining the truth of the matter. bendejo
Talk about not thinking your plan through, didn't she consider her husband would mourn and grieve (thus further depriving her of attention)? That there would be no questions of how a healthy boy suddenly dies? Just put him back in bed after strangling him and then the world would be as if he never existed in the first place... flossie35
In defence of Thai nurses, I have met many as a patient, both in- and out-. I have always found them friendly and helpful, and have never come across one with psycopathic tendencies.

Asiantravel
From my experience with Thai nurses, this story doesn't surprise me one little bit. I wonder what her threshold would be regarding her carrying out a bit of euthanasia or turning off the drip when an old patient becomes a burden. Very spooky

lildragon
These topics always bring out the window lickers spreading their ignorance over the tragic death of a child. This is not 'Thainess', this is not a representation of all Thai nurses, the condoning of public executions, it is a right old idiot fest up in here. Seriously, how do some of you dress yourselves in the morning?
Bignose
In the last couple of years I have been hospitalized several times, in that time the nurses I have met have been caring, intelligent and very professional. No once have I encountered one with an attitude or arrogance, like nurses in just about every other country on this planet they are underpaid and undervalued, to generalize about them as some have done previously is disgraceful and says more about them and their moronic opinions. This child's death is a tragedy beyond my comprehension, in my "normal" world I cannot imagine what was going through this woman's head. Sad so very, very sad...
