I'm trying to find out for a Burmese person what kind of visa she has. What I can see in her passport is that she has to register every 90 days at immigration and also that previously a visa has been given for almost 2 years which is still valid. But immigration has not written on the visa what kind of visa it is.

I would like to know if it's an L-visa or a non L-visa. This could make the difference between being eligible for the 30 Baht scheme or not. Where can I find this information?

As a side note I can add that she has applied for WP 2 and this has been granted.

Can you scan what she has in her passport, with identifying info blanked out?

Also, in other threads, you've been given the names of agencies in Chiang Mai that help Burmese migrants. Have you contacted any of them? Surely they would be able to recognize the visas that Burmese people receive.

The visa page only says: "Application of stay is permitted up to...Applicant must leave the kingdom within....." etc.

And she has a form attached to her passport. Although I can read some Thai, I cannot find any specifics of the nature of her visa.

I'm not really familiar with scanning and then uploading information. Could be done, but takes some time.

Actually I don't live in Chiang Mai and I only just met her today, but I know her already for many years. I will stay here for a short time and I thought this forum would be the quickest way to answer my questions. But yes, I'll visit the agencies if the questions cannot be answered online.

If it was Burmese with a two year extension of stay they'd be here under the migrant worker scheme.

They would have entered on an LA visa and been granted a 2 year stay. As part of the scheme they are registered in a health insurance scheme specifically for them

It seems she has a one year extension of stay based upon working not a visa.

For what it's worth, her extension of stay is about 23 months.

Previously she had a 30 Baht scheme card, and she's now changing it into an SS card. Is this possible without a visa?
