Departure Card

Featured Replies

Thai Visa Community always helps me alot, thank you so much.

May i know is my visa departure card is very important?

Yes your TM6 departure card is important.

If you want to do about anything at an immigration office you will need it and a copy of it.

Even when checking into a hotel they will expect to see it.

Yes you need to keep it in your passport. If you lose it don't worry as it can be replaced.

When I first came here i was unaware that it was required to do an extension of my original single-entry tourist visa. The immigration officers kept telling me that I needed to bring it. After a while they eventually processed my extension but it wasn't without a little hesitation on their part.

That being said, it's important enough that you should bring it for anything related to immigration, be it Division 1 or airport/borders. If you lose it, as one member said, it can be replaced however you again will probably run into resistance while replacing it.

Why not just leave it where it probably was; stapled into your passport.

Agreed, I leave my Departure Card stapled in the passport, but I also keep a copy or scan of it at home plus note the TM number on my calendar, just in case the card is lost. It does name replacement a whole lot easier if you do have a copy. The Immigration officer, at departure, for example, rather than going to your local Immigration office, can then just pull out a blank Departure Card and note the old TM number on it.

My initial card wasn't stapled. All others have been since hten. I'd imagine it depends on the officer processing your entry.
