Company? The 51 % shareholders (Thai's) will have a field day. For them, it will be like early Christmas. They will give Grandfather an apple and an egg for his 49 % share.

If any opposition should arise, they will initiate "court proceedings". = If a business has not filed tax-returns, including profit and loss statements, these days, a Thai Court of law can classify those "Real-Estate Companies" as a scheme to circumvent the "Law of the Land" that does not allow foreigners to own "Landed Property") . Punishable by prison and/or a fine.

This is only to indicate that Grandfather will only get out of here in time with outside help from Denmark.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OP's comment, that Grandfather would be basically have to live in the gutter in Denmark, is utter nonsense. Denmark, along with other "Nordic-Countries" have an extremely efficient safety-net, that makes it impossible for someone to live in the Gutter.

Refugees, now entering western Europe are having a "wish list" of where they prefer to be granted asylum: Germany, Sweden and then DENMARK ! Grandfather will fall on hard times in Denmark ????smile.png Very funny !

As the Italians say: A story, well told, is usually better than the truth.

Cheers.

If I have a nice meal in a restaurant in Thailand I'd fully expect to pay the BILL before I leave the restaurant..

I'd do that no matter what country I'm in. Maybe hospital visits with procedures are different but I don't think so!

Have you talked to him? Just how sick is he? Could be he is Fit to Fly.

I am in contact with his doctors, and they say that he fit enough to fly with company within 2-3 day.

Showing that he has assets in Thailand may help. There may be some way to use it as collateral in the repayment agreement, but need to discuss with the hospital finance dept. Suggest you start that conversation as soon as possible.

The Embassy is not going to be able to do much if anything.

Problem is the house is company owned its not his asset, and cant use it as collateral for a " personal" issue, this could even be illegal

The problem is that nobody in the family have the money

How much is the Hospital bill ?

You can always sell the property at a lower price , if there is enough money to get him out of the hospital and also pay the airline bill ,

But the airline will not let him on the plane if he is too sick , so you need to make sure he is strong enough to fly ,

Does he have a car or truck in Thailand ? if so you can maybe sell that,

Or just get a bank loan in Denmark and worry about paying it off later....

He has already sold his car, because he wants to move back to Denmark. the bil is probadly gonna be about 390000 Bath.

It is probadly smart to sell the property at a lower price, but he still need money to live somewhere in Denmark.

We are in contact with doctor, when it comes to when he needs to get home, and they say that they will let him in 3-4 days.

It is not easy to get a loan in denmark, unless you own something in denmark, and he dosn't.

He doesnt own the house, the company does and he cant dispose of the asset without permission and agreement of the other shareholders in the company he legally only holds 49% of the company legally

Did you discuss the bill and payment options?

How is grandfather justifying the financial requirements for his retirement visa? He's suppose to have either a bank account in Thailand of 800,000 baht or a monthly income of 65,000 baht or a combination. So, is there a Thai bank account that can be used?

Also, BKKDreaming is right, 400,000 baht really isn't much money for several members of the family to come up with -- maybe sell something or get a cash advance on credit cards, etc.

And if the doctors are saying he'll be ready to fly, then he probably will be. They're fairly conservative when they make statements like this and they know he'll have a family member with him. But, they will have to write a letter to this effect and they won't do that until they know the bill is going to be taken care of.

This seems to be a perfect example of if you don't have insurance don't go near a private hospital. ฿400,000 for a a week in ICU. That's over ฿57,000 a day. I have a friend who was in a public hospital in ICU, and it was ฿4,000 a day. No insurance stick to the public hospitals. ฿57,000 a day seems very high to me.

Even in a government hospital it is quite possible to run up a tab in excess of a milliom baht if for example multiple specialized surgeries are needed and/or very prolonged ICU care. Nobody should live in Thailand without health insurance or self- insuring by setting aside a large sum for use in medical emergencies.

It is true though that costs in government hospitals will always be less than costs for the same thing in a private hospital, usually by a factor of about 3... more if comparing to private hospitals at the top end price-wise (he is actually in the least expensive of the private hospitals in Pattaya).

While the government hospital in Pattaya town is limited in the range of what it can handle (though fine for routine things) the govt. Hospital in Chonburi town is a tertiary level regional facility.

Government hospitals can be hard to navigate though especially for a non- Thai speaker. They are actually easiest to deal with in an emergency situation as much of the red tape and delays are bypassed and the nature of the problem is usually pretty evident.
