Where to get a Multiple Entry, Non-Imm B Visa for Teachers

Featured Replies

This is my first post, so please bear with me:

I have recently been hired as an English teacher at Chiang Mai University. I have to leave Thailand to apply for my Non-Imm B visa, as you all know.

My question, then, is where can I receive a MULTIPLE ENTRY visa? because I hear Laos only supplies single entry visas.

That being said, I've been highly considering going to Malaysia for this process. Would this be possible in KL or Penang?

And one more question, if I do receive the Multiple Entry, I can renew it every 90 days by traveling outside of Thailand, correct?

If I only receive a Single Entry, what is the process for renewing it after 90 days?

Thank you all SO MUCH!

You need only a single entry non-B, your employer should handle paperwork for you so you can get 1 year extension of stay from immigration.

Penang is the only consulate in the region that will issue a 1-year multiple entry non-B and only if you have 8-months left on your work permit.

have you applied for a WP yet, as you will need the receipt to get a Non Imm B at an Embassy.

If you get a single entry you will have to report to Immigration with all handful of documents, this will then give you

an extension to stay valid for one year, every 90 days you must report to Immigration (this can be done online).

I doubt you will obtain a multi-entry visa anywhere within the region.

With a single entry visa and paperwork provided by the university a 12 month extension of stay can be provided by immigration.

Does anyone know if it is a standard procedure to get a Non-B visa (for teachers) in Kuala Lumpur?

Best to seek the visa in Vientiane, Laos ........................

I don't recommend going to KL for any visa.

From Chiang Mai the best place to go would be Vientiane Laos.

You can fly from CM to Udon Thani and take a van to the bridge in Nong Khai. Nok Air has a fly/ride service to Vientiane via Udon.

Hello,

It'd be better to go to the Thai Embassy in Vientiane, Laos to apply for a Non-B for teachers

with a single entry, and then do a 1-year extension and get a multiple re-entry permit when

you come back to Thailand.

Good luck.

Thank you!

Please don't go to KL, they are super difficult/near impossible to deal with nowadays.

As already posted, a 90 day single entry visa then an extension inside of Thailand with the correct papers is the way to go for Teachers.

As you are a teacher you are not required to have a filed WP application prior to seeking your 90 Day Single Entry Non Immigrant 'B' Visa - see Section 2.4 for a list of requirements in the Thai MFA Link below:

However there are some other papers required that are specific to Teachers.

I think it's important you understand the difference between single and multi entry visas.

Single = you go get the visa. Within 90 days of returning your school should arrange all documents (with a bit of input from you) so you have a work permit and a 1 year extension of stay. Each year thus extension can be renewed. This means that you do not have to leave the country unless you choose to go somewhere.

Multi = 00ppp0you go get the visa. Within 90 days of returning your school should arrange all documents (with a bit of input from you) so you have a work permit ONLY. You are now required to leave the country every 3 months. Probably on your own coin.

90 day reporting:

Single = you must report to immigration every 90 days. Often your employer can do this for you. It can be done by mail and also online when the computer system works.

Multi = you can never stay longer than 90 days, so no need to report.

Personally I'd have the 1 year extension of stay (via the single entry). It also costs less.
