PM attends NESDB seminar, calls for cooperation in national reforms

BANGKOK, 14 September 2015 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has called for cooperation from all sides in the national reform process, while affirming that the government is working to build the foundations for enduring national development.

PM General Prayut Chan-o-cha spoke on 12th National Economic and Social Development Plan (NESDP) 2017-2021 at this year’s seminar of the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB). He reported in his administration’s ongoing investments in transport infrastructure, including mega-projects with a combined value of 1.7 trillion baht. The premier assured the public that these infrastructure budgets are managed prudently and transparently.

General Prayut touched on several ongoing issues, including measures to assist small and medium enterprises (SME), overhauling water management in the country, creating alternative employment for farmers.

In reference to rumors behind the Bangkok bombings, the General Prayut said it was a matter of national security that all parties stop linking foreign and international political issues to domestic problems. He also defended his administration extending its term by 20 months, claiming it is only following the interim constitution it drafted in 2014.

Five rangers injured in a roadside bomb explosion in Yala

YALA: -- Five para-military rangers were seriously wounded in a roadside bomb explosion in Yala’s Muang district Monday.

The five rangers were travelling in a pick-up truck leading a van carrying a group of officials of the science and technology department of the Defence Ministry who were on a field trip to observe the performance of the forward command of the Internal Security Operations Command at Sirindhorn camp in Yarang district of Pattani.

Eyewitnesses late told authorities that suspected militants used traffic cones to block a road which is under construction to force the leading pick-up truck to turn to a small road where the militants have planted a bomb at a turning point.

Upon arriving at the turning point, militants who had laid in wait not far away detonated the bomb. The force of the blast badly damaged the truck and injured the men on board.

The following van sustained a broken windshield but no none inside it was injured.
