Minix Neo X7 firmware upgrade at present NOT possible with Windows 10

After many months of playing Android games, our Minix Neo x7 suddenly refused to startup anymore. One of main advantages of having a Minix Neo X7 is that eventually a user is always capable of letting this device work again. Only the green Android robot was repeatedly shown during startup, but no Minix flashscreen, no menu. In order to try to gain access again to the Minix Neo X7 a factory reset was done ( via a small hole in a corner on the back ) and all user data was removed. But its behaviour did not change at all: not granted access. Only option left was to wipe out the enitire Android software system by performing a full system upgrade to the at present latest official available version supported by Minix ( Official Release X7 Kitkat 240 ( june 4th 2015 ) ). Additional root and unroot updates via the SD card are also officially supported. In my case it was not possible to do full system upgrade via a .ZIP file on the SD card ( yielded an installation error ) and also not via OTA because the Andriod system itself had already decided not to startup anymore. So an additional USB cable ( for example of a Nokia phone ) was needed in order to connect the Minix Neo X7 to a laptop. Then I discovered quite quickly that none of the presently available drivers who have to transfer the downloaded Minix Neo X7 image ( x7-rk3188-240.img ) into the Minix Neo X7 hardware are suitable for successful usage on a Windows 10 operating system. Had to return to a luckily still available Windows 7 operating system still left and running on one of the harddisks. The Minix Neo X7 upgrade itself went quite smoothly. Newest image of Minix for the Minix Neo X7 contains a list of upgraded apps, including XBMC 13.3.3 for Minix. So what you get is current version 2.4.0 of Minix, Android version 4.4.2 and XBMX 13.3-MINIX(3) and a selected group of upgraded apps.
