BANGKOK: -- The second passenger’s terminal at Don Mueang airport which is now under construction is expected to be completed and open to services in November, said Mr Nitinai Sirismatthakarn, president of Airports of Thailand Publc Company, on Wednesday.

Speaking at the LCC Airports Congress Asia, Bangkok 2015, he said that with the opening of the second passenger’s terminal, Don Mueang airport will be capable of accommodating up to 30 million passengers a year.

He said that since 2012, he disclosed that the number of passengers at Don Meuang airport increased about 50 percent each year while the number of low-cost flights upped 30 percent annually.

In addition, the AOT has plans to build the third passenger’s terminal at Don Mueang which will increase the airport’s capacity to accommodate up to 40 million passengers each year and to make Don Mueang the maintenance hub.

Air Asia CEO Tassaphol Beleveld, meanwhile, asked AOT to increase the parking space for aircrafts at Don Mueang pointing out that traffic is normally congested in the mornings and evenings.

He also said the airline was willing to cooperate with the AOT in collecting the 35 baht fee charged by AOT for advance checkings of departing and arriving passengers.

'Advanced checkings'?

Cut Thai PBS a little slack; their slogan may be "The Broadcaster You Can Trust", but that doesn't necessarily include their English ability.

They should spend some money on the old terminal arriving from Japan recently it looked like Siagon airport minus the heavy machine guns 10 years ago.

Crazy to think that Don Muang was supposed to be shut down for good...

They were thinking that the new one would be enough, even 2 might not be enough now, smart people there....

Hard to imagine.Back in 71 traffic was light there.
