Fox News in Ofcom breach for Birmingham 'Muslim only' claim

(BBC) Ofcom found the Fox News programme to be in breach of the broadcasting code

Broadcasting regulator Ofcom has found Fox News in breach of the broadcasting code after one of its contributors called Birmingham a "no-go zone" for non-Muslims.

The comment was made during an episode of Justice with Judge Jeanine by guest Steve Emerson in January.

An Ofcom spokesperson said it was a "serious breach for a current affairs programme".

Fox said it regretted the comments and apologised to the people of Birmingham.

In an interview on 11 January, American terrorism commentator Mr Emerson said: "There are actually cities like Birmingham that are totally Muslim, where non Muslims just simply don't go in."

The programme was reflecting on the Paris terrorist attacks in January, in which 17 people were killed.

Does this mean people take Fox News (in general) seriously rolleyes.gif

Yes because the left-leaning (putting it mildly) NYTimes never makes errors and prints retractions.

BTW, this story is many months old, maybe from last year. Red meat for the FNC haters?

  • 46.1% of residents said they were Christian, 21.8% Muslim and 19.3% no religion. For one Ofcom did the right thing. The ignorance of Fox News is stunning.

They most likely meant that some areas of B-ham were no go, with that high a percentage of mussies there must be plenty of shariatards.

Please name me one area of Birmingham that is "No-Go"... I know of none and I live in Birmingham and my work takes me to all areas of Birmingham, 24/7.

You're funny!

Every time someone point a flaw in your favorite toys, instead of showing proof that your toy is good, you just point the fact that other toys have flaws too...

Two wrongs not make one right.

"Red meat for the FNC haters?"

So does that mean if someone believes Faux Noise is just a rather crude right-wing propaganda spewer manned by cretins and charlatans as well as being the (barely) backstage puppet master for the US Republican Party, he or she must be a hater?

I am glad UK holding Fox "News" (if they want to be entertainment, don't pretend are News company) accountable. Question I have is "will there be any sanctions for these lies?". USA used to have "fairness doctrine" and that kept broadcasters close to the line. That sadly disappeared years ago, hence the rise of this propaganda mill.

Many larger cities around the world...US included...have areas where minorities dominate...where it is problematic for a Caucasian to enter...the locals make it very plain that people unlike themselves are unwelcome and are entering at their own risk...I never hear of the ACLU taking on this blatant racism and bigotry...

What happened to the rest? Add the figures and it doesnt total 100% only something like 87% so there is roughly 13% unaccounted for. Suggests the figures have been made up and not checked.

Political correctness is the Achilles heel of the West. Take a look and judge for yourself.

The Muslim man on the street is polite, he asks to talk to Tommy and asks what his beliefs are, he is clearly interested in having a civil discussion. However, in response Tommy says Islam has a sh!t ideology, suggests that Muslims are pedophiles and that Islam has a fascist ideology. He is not interested in a conversation, his intent was to be as deeply insulting as possible and he deserved the slap he got. He then proceeds to drive around heckling out of his window an apparent threat to burgle peoples houses!?!? His closing words are hilarious, "Do you think that that man is usually a nice, tolerant person?". I guess we will never know having not seen that man in "usual" circumstances however it is clear to all that Tommy is neither a nice nor a tolerant person.

Most European countries has bigger citites with no-go zones for westerners - Muslim "Refugees" claim there is sharia-law and that the original population have to follow scum muslim rules ... Everybody with a brain knows that

Europe will end like Jugoslavia back in early 90´ties ...

Well, I'm from Birmingham and staggered by this assertion. True there are areas in the city, such as Handsworth where the are siazeable muslim communities, but that's the same everywhere. (There is asizeable farang community in Pattaya!)

Might be worth watching Aston Villa v Birmingham City on TV tonight and see if there are 30,000 plus muslims in t he crowd. Up the Blues! cheesy.gif

Intolerant yes. A bit like many Muslims but they are just protecting their faith yes?

What happened to the other 13%? It has been proven that 63.89% of all statistics you read on the internet are wrong, and that 26.13% of all statistics are made up.
