The government didnot have to give them anything. This shows compassion for their fellow thais. They victims were killed in their own country, and the country shows they care. i feel it was a very good thing. The first positive thing this junta government has done

Was there any reason given why only Thai nationals?

This report says nothing of that compensation being paid only to Thais. Once again the usual suspects are twisting the report to suit their agenda.

It has been widely reported that the Justice Ministry would be paying 100,000 baht to the families of the victims (not only the Thai victims) in addition to 300,000 baht being paid by the Tourism and Sports Ministry.

Last week on TV they were sprouting the figure of 5,000 baht per death and 2,000 baht per injured and the announcer was quite proud by the way he was boasting. personally I thought it was an insult so at least this is better but I would hardly call a party. In fact even a poor factory worker on 5,000 baht a month wouldn't take many years to reach the 300,000 baht figure. Would you be happy!

Yes, if you read it properly.

The Office of The Prime Minister, for whom this guy Pannada speaks, has allocated monetary compensation to Thai nationals. The Ministry of FOREIGN Affairs (MOFA) will deal with compensation for foreigners or non Thais.

Whether the compensation will be equable or greater is another matter. Fact is there are at least two departments at work here.

Each or collectively? We care. Here's the equivalent of $3000 for the death of your family members.

Foreigners? You all are an unwanted necessity to adding to the GDP, but you should know better than to be in the vicinity of a bomb blast. Now hopefully your foreign families will expedite getting your bodies off our soil, but leave some money before your go. BTW, can we see your passport with visa stamp and departure card. Do we have the hotel your staying at on record? You're not staying any longer than 15 days we hope. Foreigners are mischievous and potential criminals. The bombing is the classic example.

Welcome to the new Land of Suspicion. We don't don't smile much anymore, not the we did before.
