Hello. Just talking to couple of men currently in Udon Thani. They flew into bkk from Kuwait 2 days ago. They have visa exempt stamp. They wish to catch bus at 2pm and visit friends in Vientiane. Reenter los in couple of days then back to bkk fly back to work.

Told them this May be impossible. Am I wrong as often is the case. Told them I would ask the experts

Difficult to answer, if they only have the 1 Visa Exempt then it shouldn't be a problem, but as always it's the Immigration Officer decision if they get another one or not.

Question though, do they have proof that they fly out of BKK back to work ? This should help convince the IO, but before they leave LOS, let them talk to Immigration.

Shouldn't be a problem. Tell them to have 10k min in cash and details of their outbound flights, and then there is no reason for denial.

No problem to cross at Nong Khai and return.

I got an email this morning confirming the crossing is normal, Evan an out/in for a visa exempt can be done. I posted that in the Cambodia crossing topic.

Thanks guys. Sent them on their way. Told them to print out their onward flights from bkk and have some cash.

MY knowledge/experience 30 day visa 'exempt' on arrival by air from o'seas - depart the Kingdom eg Nong Khai - Laos. On return 15 day visa approval. (bear in mind bridge fees etc). Careful, if you decide, for example, to do the above for any number of days prior to the completion of your 30 days then you lose said days. For example 10 days into your Thai visit you decide to go to Laos, you receive 15 days on return. That is you have 'lost' the balance of the initial 30 days and literally have lost, in this example, 5 days. If time is not a concern then leave your exit from Thailand until the near end of your 30 day initial visa as you will receive the extra 15 on your return. Repeat MY experience, not rocket science if you are a cleanskin.

Bit harsh.

OP did not state it is 1 week, rather it is inferred. As the reply mentioned 15 days on return then Tassie is probably not native English and missed your 'inference'

No not harsh. There is no inference in my OP. It states arrived los 2 days ago. Visiting friends for couple of days. Then fly out of bkk back to work

2+2 or 3< 5.

Also TASSIE would be from Tasmania, Australia. Lovely place

I agree a bit harsh

As other people not just the op read this and that info can help some people

Tassie might not be native English but you are probably right about native aussie
