Keep your house spotlessly clean- I have never seen even one ant.

Vacuum every day.

You must be lucky. My wife is a compulsive clean freak, and we still have ants. Tends to be seasonal though.

If you can locate where the ants are coming from, try boric acid mixed with honey. Dissolve the boric acid in a small quantity of hot water, then mix with honey and apply close to the nest. They transport it into the nest as food, and it poisons the queen.

Salt.

Ants won't cross it as they can't sense/smell across it, so they always go around. So make a big circle on the ground around the bowl with salt.

Not only that, but it will keep evil spirits away from the dog food to boot. Then the Tiirak won't have to burn incense and candles near where the dogs eat. Lol <Ok, puut len -- or maybe half-joking>

You feed your dog to much!!! My dogs (3 german shepherd dogs) get their food and 3 minutes later it's already eaten. No probs with ants. Only if they 're not hungry and the food bowl stay longer ants come.

I feed in the morning and evening.

Do ants not contain protein? I

Yes, but they have a bad smell!!! My dogs not like it!!!

My missus shreds some cucumber around the cats bowl .. And it works with the smaller ants.

Just half a dozen bits about 3" long .. Apparently Thai ants don't like the smell of cucumber.

I put the cornmeal. It is resistant to rain, the ants convey the flour into the anthill, they gavent in and explode. veracious

Really? Cool. If it doesn't work, cornbread and chili for dinner.

There is an ant killer, Chaindrite I think, that is sold in sticks like chaulk. You just make a circle around the bowl on the floor and the ants won't cross it

That is the best solution, we do it all the time with the food for the cats. Waste of time for our dogs, they push the bowls around as they are eating, just have to lift the bowls as soon as they leave it.

BE WARNED

Cats are sensitive to Chaindrite.

Dogs are NOT.

The missus bought this a few months ago - perfect! It keeps all inscets away from the cat food.

Don`t understand the OP`s problem.

We give our dogs a mixture of cooked and tinned dog food. They are feed indoors, not outdoors. After coking we leave in the pan with a lid on, on the stove. The tinned food is not opened until the dogs dinner is served.

We then put the cooked food straight from the saucepan and the tinned food into the dog bowls, place the dog bowls on the floor and then the dogs gulp it all down within a couple of minutes, the ants don`t have time to get there first.
