Hassavut rebuffs his dismissal but won't appeal
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Supreme Administrative Court president Hassavut Vititviriyakul has rejected a resolution by the court's judicial commission to remove him from duty.

But he added that he would not appeal against the order because he "no longer has trust in the organisation".

With teary eyes, Hassavut Friday addressed a press conference at Government Complex on Chaengwathana Road.

On Wednesday, the court's judicial commission, by a majority vote, dismissed Hassavut for committing malfeasance by seeking the promotion of a police officer.

The commission said it found sufficient proof that Hassavut had abetted Derekrid Janekrongtham, secretarygeneral of the Office of the Administrative Courts, to write two informal letters to the national police chief and one of his deputies in 2013 and 2014 seeking the promotion.

BANGKOK: -- SUPREME Administrative Court president Hassavut Vititviriyakul has rejected a resolution by the court's judicial commission to remove him from duty.

But he added that he would not appeal against the order because he "no longer has trust in the organisation".

With teary eyes, Hassavut yesterday addressed a press conference at Government Complex on Chaengwathana Road.

On Wednesday, the court's judicial commission, by a majority vote, dismissed Hassavut for committing malfeasance by seeking the promotion of a police officer.

The commission said it found sufficient proof that Hassavut had abetted Derekrid Janekrongtham, secretary-general of the Office of the Administrative Courts, to write two informal letters to the national police chief and one of his deputies in 2013 and 2014 seeking the promotion.

The policeman in question had been assigned to provide security at the Administrative Court office and reportedly is a close friend of Hassavut's nephew.

However, Hassavut said the policeman was just an acquaintance.

He also denied that he had instructed Derekrid to write the notes to the senior police commanders on his behalf.

He added that after learning about what Derekrid had done, he had rebuked him and set up a fact-finding committee to look into the matter.

"I don't accept the decision by the judicial commission. Justice has not been served for me by the Administrative Court. I no longer have any trust in this organisation. So I'm not thinking about appealing this case," he said.

Hassavut noted that five of the six cases in which he had sued the Administrative Court had been rejected.

He said he had always worked in a straightforward manner, adding that he was ready to further explain this case in detail to the media.
