Army needs to act on the fatal beating of Imam Yapa

It's not just the Army that needs to take action, it's the entire judiciary.

If murder is committed, justice must be served swiftly and fairly, no matter who the victim is or who the perpetrator is. Without fail, without exception.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

I agree, this also included the more than 2500 innocent Thai citizens that were murdered during the PM Thaksin War on Drugs. The UN declared it as a crime against Humanity. Thaksin comment was " the UN is not my father".

Thaksin has nothing to do with this. It is simple autocratic control, damage control and bullshit. You sport the flag ":Don't tread on me" and support the Nazis.

Shame on you. SHAME. You, sir, are a hypocrite.

Well now....if the Army is put in charge of a sensitive situation then history clearly shows how a situation handled by the Army all too often turns into an armed conflict and stirs up all the more trouble and resentment of the Military and the succeeding Government(s) that supposedly appoint the military to resolve the situation in the south.

The nature of any Army is one of force and domination over any rivals that stand in the way of the Armies agenda.

No surprise the situation in the south has never been resolved.

I do not have the answers but I observe they have been trying to resolve the problems in the south using the Army as the means to bring peace to the area while we see for all those years it is not any better and or growing worse in many respects along with the Army being complicit in all the more atrocities occurring in the regions they administer....including the human trafficking going on in their area that they say they did not know about.

What to do, what to do??

"But can the Malays of Patani, or anybody for that matter, move on as one nation with a shared destiny with the rest of the people in Thailand"

I think they would rather move on as an autonomous muslim region as they once had before being subjugated by the Kingdom. They only have a shared destiny with Thailand because they are forced to do so.

Let them have a referendum like Scotland and Catalonia and find out with whom they want a shared destiny.

That is what they have been discussing since the end of the 2nd world war when that region was more or less ceded to Thailand....and the rest is history while the Thai Military will never agree to that as that region has always been their domain while we all know who really controls the government here in Thailand.

Similar to the Issan region and how it used to be part of Laos......while that region will also never be anything other than part of Thailand as long as the military controls Thailand...which they aim to do long into the future.

Surprised the insurgents did not go nuts when this happened, put it to the military where ever they can in the country.

Like others have said, the courts are consistently corrupt, no matter whom the victims are.

The judiciary will never do anything, they are corrupt to the core and are the first place any reforms should have started. The army will never do anything to one of their own, until they are held accountable for their actions. Unfortunately this will never happen. They are not going to clip their own feathers, and no elected Government dares touch them or the tanks will roll in.

And those elected governments are just as corrupt; as are the joke of a police force who should be enforcing the law and bringing criminals to justice.

Judicial system, including investigative and enforcement, political system, military, business, civil service - corruption rife, feudal hierarchy based on patronage, family, connections, place in society.

Now, who does that actually leave to do any reforms, that are real reforms, and not simply more self interested <deleted>?

Is it not why we live in Thailand....Justice means Just is.......... and that's the way it is.... It will NEVER change here, accept it and be happy. wai2.gif

Now you maybe correct it might not change but it is never likely, as you say, just accept it. If My grandfather and other family members just did as you say the world would be very different and we might all be wearing swastikas. So I don't accept what you say, in fact that is one of the main problems here. There are many Thai people do accept it and do as they are told without questioning anything. I would like those to stand up and be counted more often. It is because of this attitude the country has stayed stagnant for all these years.
