NCPO vows to maintain safety and security in Thailand

BANGKOK, 28 September 2015 (NNT) - The Situation Monitoring Centre of the National Council for Peace and Order has reiterated that the explosions at the Ratchaprasong Intersection and Sathorn Pier were attacks aimed at the general public.

The Centre said the acts have resulted in significant losses to the injured and the relatives of the deceased, as well as damages to Thailand’s reputation in the international community.

However, thanks to collaboration between all sectors, Thai authorities were able to identify and apprehend two suspects, Adem Karadag and Mieraili Yusufu, who were responsible for planting the explosives at the Ratchaprasong Intersection and Sathorn Pier.

Regarding the additional arrest warrants for accomplices and supporters, the Centre said it would like to reaffirm that the suspects were identified based not only on the testimonies of Karadag and Yusufu, but also forensic analysis of evidence collected from the crime scenes.

Investigators currently believe that the terrorist acts were a retaliation to the government's crackdown on human trafficking. Although there is no basis for other potential motives, officials are not ruling out any possibilities.

The Royal Thai Police will continue to report any developments in the case, including the prosecution of its suspects.

But every day i read of murder and mayhem.

Surely only news if they said the contrary, a hub for tautological redundancy?

The source of the OP is the PRD, and they use the phrase "Investigators currently believe that the terrorist attacks......".

So are they now telling us it was terrorism or not?

Translation: We will continue to trample all over everybody's freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of being able to have a differing opinion and most importantly we vow to hunt down ever "red shirt" that could be a threat in the next election so we will be the clear victors in that election. We know this will make the Thai people happy because how can you not love us.

sort of like Bush logic, you are much safer with me, even if we did just have the worst attack in history under my watch

but it works

Bad people are everywhere. They are coming to hurt you and your children. The National Council for Peace and Order is the only organization in Thailand fully authorized to secure Peace and Order at any cost.

Lol the attacks were the result of the crackdown in human trafficking. Please.. The Thai navy sued the journalists at Phuketwan for exposing their complicity in human trafficking, some in the Thai military were removed for human trafficking and because they have made virtually no progress they are still at the lowest ranking for the TIP report.

How about the cause was sending the muslim refugees back to China to face God knows what or maybe the elected government was tossed out and the country's economy is rapidly cratering?

Great news. All you have to do now is convince your boss Mr.P. that Thailand would have been much safer had he not deported the Uighurs.

I won't hold my breath for a much belated apology from the delusional PM who is way out of his depth.

Haven't they repeatedly stated it was not an act of terrorism? The left not knowing what the right is stating.

Seems like the people they sent back were indeed terrorists. So by your own argument it seems they made the right decision.

And you seem to be missing the fact that the bomb makers were at their business long before those people got sent back.

"The Nation" has the story that at least one of the people involved also made bombs during the 2010 fiasco and again in the 2014 protests. In the same way they avoid the word 'terrorists', everybody also avoids 'red-shirt' these days. The two have less and less distinction between them as things move forward.

Should'nt that read Vows to increase safety and security ? maintaining things as they are is nothing to be proud of.

This recent inclusion of a red shirt bomber in the list of suspects is wholly unsubstantiated at this point. The man is not in custody, his whereabouts unknown, no evidence of the connection specified. But it sure provides low grade fodder for the fools who see a red in every rice paddy.

At least we'll all be protected when the zombies attack Bangkok.

Will there be more trays of cash trotted out to keep us safe and secure?? I just cannot believe that members of the public and the families of the dead and injured did not qualify for this. Its a sad sad day when law enforcement give themselves a golden pat on the back.
