slapout
California has been referred to as "" the land of fruits and nuts'' for several decades by the more conservitive portion of the US population. This piece of work will probably find a following and will spend a lot of what he stole and has coned already and continue to raise funds thru any means his legal council on tax law will advise him on. He will probably spend a goode portion of avaliable funds on protection for himself, legal fees living in his style cannot be cheap in California. He probably does not believe much of what the monks teach about gtood thoughts /deeds and the rewards they bring in the next existence.
cookee68
I don't understand why they don't issue an international warrant for his arrest for alleged rape and sex with a minnor, then the US would deport him. or is it about a face and religious thing I would have thought that any police or political branch would be only too happy to have him back, especially if its to answer for the amount of money and the supposed rape charges.Lets face it,we all know he is not on his own,but to make an example and deal with him sternly and make him pay dearly for his crimes would surely be a big step towards discouraging others in the future. If he is allowed to get away freely then how can the average religious Thai person have any respect for future Monks They will be brain washed into believing something else instead of the truth, that is what religion is all about, when they mess up, blame it on something else and not the religion, that is the easy way out of a religious situation
Dogmatix
He might have invested $500,000 to get a green card but that wouldn't give him immunity from extradition if charged with a crime that is also a crime in the US. He would have a hard job getting political asylum, since neither he nor any of his followers have suffered religious or political persecution. He is just a con man and a common thief. Acharn
The last I heard, from a couple of Thai monk friends in California, he's still living at his house near Lake Arrowhead in So. California, still wearing the robes and still getting lots of Thai visitors from Los Angeles. He also goes back and forth to France often. The word is, yes he had sex with a minor, but it was consensual, the rape charge was brought by her parents, who are looking for a buy out. Although the girl in question is now in her 20's. He's been mum about the vast amount of money in his bank accounts, probably pretty smart on his part. Just saying what I heard, not making any judgments either way. Consensual or not, she was still a minor so it vas a crime. A crime yes, for having sex with a minor, but I have my doubts on the rape part. With the amount of money that he accumulated, I'm quite sure it involved a bunch of people who don't want the truth out. He'll never be brought back to Thailand to stand trial. The "rape" part is a legal definition. Having sex with a child is *defined* as rape on the theory that the child does not have enough experience and maturity to give consent with full understanding. It's a serious felony in the U.S., too, so that wouldn't be a problem. If he's been granted refugee status he might be claiming that he would be subject to persecution or political imprisonment if he returned to Thailand. Frankly, I don't know how he could have made such a claim stick, but who knows what you can buy from the State Department these days. As long as you're not a Muslim. aboctok
The bind moggles. Would you believe a pack of rabid Buddhists (Laotian though), replete with 25 foot tall speakers has invaded the rural neighborhood where I grew up in Florida? I visit that area of the planet (where I grew up in poverty) seldom & mostly never, but last time I was there they were whooping it up half a mile a way. I have told my mom to call the deputies about the noise. Her grandson/my nephew IS a local deputy. She won't do it though. I just left. Haven't been back. How long does the single bass riff endure, thumping across your neighborhood like some iterative karmic water torture? This parameter must be counted in double-digit hours, if they are half serious. Skeptic7
Well, I suppose that if you are going to set up a wacky religion of your own, California is the place to do it! Yeah...like all the other well established superstitions (aka religions) are any LESS wacky!
mike324
How hard is it to trace where his sources of money came from? Perhaps there are bigger fish behind this fake monk, politicians, big company ceos, police and what not ...
