I thought they declared this case solved after they gave themselves the reward money. Does this mean there is going to be more reward money? They can just keep solving it again and again I guesscheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif I love this Thai visa. I don't even watch TV anymore. I get all the comedy I need right here.

Wait...What?

I thought that other guy "confessed" already and there are approx. 35 other arrest warrants issued!

Now they have a new guy, who -as I read it- should have been on the list from the beginning?

I hope, someone gives them some money to file pictures, this time!coffee1.gif

The bombers had meetings with Aod many times before the bombing that was the statement from the bombers

"the bombers". What is your basis for this word? The world has been given no 1st-world level evidence since August 15 who the bombers are.

You mean cctv and bomb making materials and confession is not enough so you need to catch them planting it??? Dumb

Absolutely not enough in Thailand. "Confession" has various meanings in various countries. In Thailand it resembles Stalin's Russia, Pinochet's Chile. "Dumb" is not necessary, it demeans you, not me.

"Dumb" is infantile and rude. You demean yourself. You are correct "Confession is not enough", not in the LOS where "confession" has the meaning it had in Stalin's Russia and Pinochet's Chile.

ERAWAN SHRINE

Hunt for Thai bomb suspect intensifies

Aod

Police have interviewed his mother and are attempting to confirm his identity

BANGKOK: -- POLICE have stepped up their investigation of a Thai man suspected of supplying the explosives used in the Erawan Shrine blast.

The suspect, Aod Payungwong, has no identity card despite standing trial several times and being convicted of a crime, it was revealed.

Police visited Siriraj Hospital yesterday to see if Aod's birth was registered there.

They had earlier visited Ban Banglamung elderly care centre in Chon Buri province to talk to Anong Payungwong, 61, Aod's mother. Aod is also known as Yongyut Pobkaew.

He is one of two Thais wanted in connection with the shrine blast, which killed 20 people and wounded more than 100 others on August 17. Police have issued 17 arrest warrants in the case, with most of the suspects being foreign.

Police General Somyot Poompan-muang, a former national police chief, said Aod did not have an identity card. A police source quoted Anong as saying she had not seen her son in about five years and he had stopped sending her money during that period.

The source said Anong told police she delivered Aod at Siriraj Hospital and registered the birth there, making it possible for him to acquire the 13-digit identity card, but that he failed to apply for the card at a district office.

"We want to confirm his identity and his nationality is that of a Thai citizen," the source said.

Aod did not know who his father was, he worked as a garbage collector and frequently moved from place to place, the source said. He had a son and a daughter who were adopted by an Australian couple.

Police previously linked him to explosions when protesters took to the streets against the Abhisit government and later the Yingluck government.

The suspicion that he may be involved in the blast has led police to believe that politics may have played a part in the attack. He was given a suspended jail term in an explosive-related case.

Police General Jakthip Chaijinda, the national police chief, said the investigation would continue despite the closure of a centre set up as part of the probe.

He said he would not make changes to the investigation team.

Two suspects have been arrested in the case while 15 others are at large.

Police Lt-General Sriwara Ransibrah-manakul, deputy national police chief, said police had enough evidence to link Aod to the case.

He looks more like the guy who planted the bomb than the guy who supposedly confessed. Put sunglasses, a hat & some whitening cream & there you have it. If they keep coming up with suspects all the time then someone will have to keep increasing the reward money. Aghhh Thailand!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aod, the missing link to Mr. T ??

Oooooooohh... now THAT'S a stretch if ever there was one.

Well we do have a mercenary sociopath employed by 2 terrorist organisations, one of whom is owned by Thaksin as the military arm of his political party.

While the employment for the latest killings may have been purely mercenary, is it not reasonable to ask how they became aware of his expertise, and whether or not there was any reference from UDD and/or sanctioning of the latest bombing?

It wasn't intended to be an insult but my meaning was clear. There is more than a whiff of nonsense in this story.

We know the government is keen to prevent the idea of this incident being connected with international terrorism, and it suits their purpose to suggest a link to internal divisions.

This is the background and I would have thought someone commendably resistant to bullshit should show a degree of scepticism before speculating about UDD involvement, particularly given the contradictory statements provided by the police on the bombing.

I don't particularly object to the line you take since it's part of the forum give and take. But my instincts are to reserve my position and await real evidence - certainly before unsubstantiated speculation.

There was no speculation of UDD involvement, by me at least. But if it can be proven that Aod was involved in the latest bomb plot, investigation IS warranted.

How does one find an expert bomb-maker? The Yellow Pages aren't going to be much help, but if you know a member or two of an organisation involved in such activity, they might be able to pass on a referral.

He is not a member of the UDD and if you read the article you should have noticed that they interviewed his mother but are still trying to identify him - "Police have interviewed his mother and are attempting to confirm his identity". This is a contradiction. He was supposed to have been arrested yet his ID number is not on the police computers ???? If his ID was on the system he would have been identified, not so ??? He is a hitman and are for hire, just like the "security guards" Suthep employed. These hitmen have protection from "protector"/ pua yai's and even if they get arrested they seldom go to jail. My conclusion is that this guy was employed to do a job and got caught, the police arrested him, but his protector got him released without normal prosedures being followed. As he is from the south I just wonder who his "protector" might be ? But for certain that the protector will not wear red.

On what do you base your "certain" other than self-serving speculation? Apparently he has never applied for an ID card, and was released under Thaksinist governments, the same people for whom he was making bombs and firing grenades. Photos provided in the thread show Jatuporn addressing him, though he denies any knowledge, and he is also "from the south".

Where do you obtain your claim he not a member of UDD? Because they said it? Try googling Mandy Rice-Davies, or MRDA.

I thought the DSI said this guy wasn't involved in the previous bombings but the papers still keep referring to them??

Also some posters claim he was firing grenades etc, how do you know?

Were you there? Is there photographic/video evidence?

All seems a bit odd to me.

It serves the junta to keep the 'red hand' aspect uppermost as that is what they have been told to do as a justification for their existence.

Bringing happiness to the what now?

"Boonchaliew Dusadee, a lawyer for several Pheu Thai Party executives, once sought bail for Mr Odd who appealed against a one-year jail sentence handed down by the Criminal Court on May 21, 2010, for violating the emergency decree during the 2010 red-shirt protests.

Mr Odd was granted bail five days later with a B40,000 surety placed by Mr Boonchaliew, the source said."
