Second day of Russian airstrikes target Syrian insurgents

DAMASCUS: -- Amateur video captured the moment that Syrian government airstrikes bombarded rebel positions in the city of Hama on Thursday as Russian state television aired a report on the latest planned attack by local government forces on insurgents in the area.

Video by a group calling themselves the Revolutionary Command Council – who are loosely affiliated with the Free Syria Army – showed a series of smoke plumes rising above the city of Hama after heavy bombardment.

The Syrian army is hitting the area as they attempt to free the road between Homs and Hama, according to RTR’s report, calling up tanks and artillery while relying on government and Russian airstrikes for cover.

The US and its allies fear that Russia, which has backed the family of President Bashar Assad since the current leader’s father was in power, is using the air campaign as a pretext to go after anti-Assad rebels that include CIA-backed groups.

Russian jets appeared to be primarily bombing central and northwestern Syria, strategic regions that are the gateway to Assad’s strongholds in the capital of Damascus and the coast.

The heartland of the group known variously as Daesh or Islamic State is, however, in the North East of Syria, leading to questions of who the real targets are.

As concerns grew about a conflict that has now drawn in warplanes from the world’s two most powerful militaries including that of the US, Russian President Vladimir Putin denied reports that civilians were killed in any Russian airstrikes.

So, is it legal for the CIA to back rebel armies in sovereign states?

Damn right, given who the leader is and what he has done to his people.

You mean being told by the CIA what he did to his people ? Assad is getting the same treatment that Gaddafi got and Saddam got and to a point the Taliban got. Just who the hell is the USA to demand regime change anywhere in the world ? The same goes for the UK. The world was a far safer and more peaceful place before the West decided it wanted to change things in the Middle East.

For me the USA and the UK has been happy to use what ISIS have been doing as it suited their own political agenda for the region but Putin now threatens to derail these planes by marching into Syria and destroying ISIS once and for all. Something that Obama and his lapdog Cameron have refused to do regardless of how many atrocities ISIS commit. They are both about to be shown up as world leaders and they don't like it

Wait! Doesn't this description sounds a lot like ISIS?

No one in Russia wanted there military to enter Syria. The Russian people are suffering from what Putkin is doing. He want a war to bring the Russian people to join him if a war starts. He has billions but i do not see him spending any money on the poor and starving Russian people! He has no chance of getting support for the people of his country by his actions!

Yes he is getting the same treatment as all the sick bastards you mentioned. He has murder thousands of the people that did not support his sick minded government. You are also a sick bastard by not believing in a government by the people and for the people. Hope some day you learn this the hard way but seeing what you posted you whould probably be one of his bitches!

Obama is complaining that Putin has bombed the anti Assad rebels funded by the CIA and is killing civilians on the same day his part time fly boys in afghanistan have bombed the local hospital that medecins sans frontieres say they have known about for moths now killing doctors, nurses and patients.

As far as I can see Putin is doing exactly what he said he was going to do and who he said he was going to bomb which is ISIS and anyone else fighting Assad

Just wait till his Chechen soldiers arrive and start marching through Syria. Expect a lot of part time Jihadis to come running back home sharpish wink.png

Some of those being bombed are what many call "freedom fighters". Assad is a brutal dictator who has killed many innocent civilians over the years. And will probably be charged with crimes against humanity relatively soon.

Russia is bombing these freedom fighters and innocent civilians are being killed. What's going to happen is more Chechen jihadists are going to bomb Russian targets, like they've been doing for years. This could really backfire on Russia, just like the US actions in Iraq and Afghanistan have come back to bite them in the butt!

Too much outside influence in Syria. Iran, Russia, the US led coalition. It's crazy.
