PM's Office Minister Suwaphan says selection of CDC and NRSA is in the final stage

BANGKOK, 3 October 2015 (NNT)-Prime Minister's Office Minister Suwaphan Tanyuwatthana has revealed the selection of members for the Charter Drafting Committee (CDC) and the National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) is currently in its final stage. The issue is being considered by Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha. The minister expects that the names will be revealed to the public shortly.

However, if Mr.Meechai Ruchupan, a member of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), declines the CDC chairman position, he believes an appropriate alternative person will be proposed for consideration. Mr. Suwaphan believes the country is ready to move forward along the roadmap and says reforms in 11 areas will serve as an important framework. Therefore members of the NRSA must be knowledgeable in those areas.

Meanwhile, former National Reform Council (NRC) member, Dr. Amornvit Nakornthap says the formation of the CDC and NRSA should be in accordance with the people’s expectation. He said Mr. Meechai is someone who is accomplished and well accepted by the society, adding that it is unlikely that Mr. Meechai would disappoint the public as CDC chairman.

National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA)

Sounds like something for your car to change from RH to LH drive?

Who doesn't love these Nxxx acronyms? I'm still waiting for NINCOMPOOP.

Wasnt the draft shot down because of this NRSC?

Yes! Incidently it was recommended to CDC Mark I by Cabinet.

The NSRA would have guided the country through the reform process, but more controversially, it would also have had the authority to take over executive and legislative power from an elected government in times of crisis.

Another major stumbling block for Mark I was that it sought to curb the authority of elected politicians.
