If you dont keep all receipts in this country simply asking for trouble. Every 12 mths just wrap them up and put in an envelope with the year date marked.

Start again.

Hindsight. In my 3rd decade of living here and never had such a problem of having to have the earlier receipts when the previous paid receipt says outstanding balance zero, however we have learnt from this episode for sure.

Have enjoyed a reasonable service from CTH for a few years here on Koh Phangan, and have paid every monthly bill on time. However, last week, the day after I'd paid my latest bill, my service was cut off, the screen saying I was no longer entitled to the channels that I had just paid for. Repeated calls to their call centre over the next four or five days proved fruitless. Was so difficult to speak a member of staff, and when a Thai friend managed to make contact, it was all excuses, lies, and lots of waffle, so frustrating that the customer service is non existent. Have now given up, and now looking for an alternative provider. So, if anyone is considering enlisting the services of CTH, please think again.

My problem with my bills I have paid, is I was not receiving bills so I used a previous bill to pay at 7 eleven and stapled to the bill, well as we all know paper receipt fade and I cannot make out the dates.

Yep, the matter of any previous bills being unpaid was never raised with myself, nor should it be, as all my payments were up to date. No one at the CTH call centre were willing/able to give a reason for the sudden stop on my channels, perhaps they don't know why, and won't admit it. Local Sat TV installers here are of the opinion that call centre can't cope with the the current levels of problems, and the call centre itself is bordering on meltdown, happy days! Regardless, I think it's time to move on, don't think I could put any trust in CTH again.

These bastards are pocketing as much loot as they possibly can before they go completely belly up. Outrageous.

No I just think they are incompetent and haven't had adequate systems in place to register payments. I feel sorry for the staff that have to take the calls and deal with this mess.

CTH should have immediately employed forensic accountants (records recovery) and consultants to dig themselves out of the administrative hole they were in and help negotiate with those former installers that probably have the missing details - that old Asian face thing again!. OK so I'm biased having been in that industry, but it works well for under-resourced businesses in crisis in Europe and the US.

They deserve to die as an organisation, but I agree it's tough on any long-standing staff - most though will have been recruited specifically for this collection drive, so probably knew what they were getting into.

I spoke to a friend yesterday. He has never paid anything over 2 years except the intial installation. He has not been cut off. (he said he has never received a bill).

It looks a right mess, with tose who hve paid being cut off and thosewho haven't retaining the service. facepalm.giffacepalm.giffacepalm.gif

I paid up front for one year but have not been billed since. Several others in my local Isaan bar are the same. Our Province's installer obviously is one of those that CTH had a spat with and accordingly never got the records (I suspect).

My spidey senses tell me that the distributors are the ones who are at fault here.

Without CTH being accurate about billing, they were able to bank all the cash from customers and earn interest on it.

Amazing that only now CTH are getting shirty about non-payment and probably using the customers to flush out the ones that have been doing this.

As for the next deal, don't be surprised if it goes to MP & Silva and/or Bein Sports.

This could be good: They are advertising (but haven't released yet) a fairly nifty all-in-one box:

Pace’s DMS7000NBS Home Media Server is one of the most advanced set-top boxes in the world and will be a first for the MENA region. This latest technology will enable beIN SPORTS’ customers to watch premium sport on multiple screens within their home. With high-performance hardware, a massive 1-TB hard disk drive for recordings, multiple tuners and next generation IEEE 802.11ac wireless, it can deliver parallel recordings and High Definition video simultaneously to TVs, laptops, tablets and smart phones. Advanced security protects the content throughout, allowing beIN SPORTS’ customers to view sport on their devices both inside the home or synchronised to take away.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi guys,

I went to pay my 960 baht monthly CTH bill today and was astounded when the 711 clerk asked me for 10,000 baht. My CTH hasn't been working (except Thai channels) for two weeks now. I called CTH who told me I had missing payments dating as far back as September 2013. Like everyone else I have paid every single month since August 2013 and whilst I have many of the bills, some are missing, others the receipt has faded and others were paid by Internet banking and there is no receipt. I am absolutely outraged and I'm not giving them a single baht. Tomorrow I am returning the box from whence it came (local independent shop).

Is anyone else fearful of legal action? There was 0 outstanding balance in August and suddenly 10k. What on earth are they playing at?

Bye CTH hello ilikehd.

Not trying to be a clever dick, but I've packed in Thai TV altogether -whether cable or sattelite.

What I've done is link up my computer to my big TV (as many do I'm sure) and then I stream in all the UK channels in HD quality. That's all BBC,ITV,Chanells 4/5 etc. plus all SKy Sports and Film Channels plus BT channels.

Clearly the time difference is a slight problem, but with catch up is always available. Watching UK news and documentaries etc is also something useful.

Yesterday watched the test match, tonight Prem game at 7.45 and will get up tomorrow and watch Match of the Day at breakfast time. The only down side (if there is one) is the 3pm Prem games are not available but MOTD coers all those 10pm Kick-offs.

I mention all this just to show why I can't be bothered with these unreliable and often rubbish Thai transmissions.

I suppose I pay about 1500 baht a month for all this, but it's well worth it.

Stalker gives you all those plus three Astro channels and one NBCSN (for 3pm KOs) for Bt240 a month.

Guys,

It appears I'm stuck. Independent shop where I got it from are saying it has to be cancelled through CTH. CTH are continuing to bill me every month, if we all just ignore this then surely its going to build up and we'll owe much more. What is the solution here?

They say I owe 10k,I don't. How can they continue to bill me if they aren't providing a full service?

Worried

I just got through to CTH, I asked them to cancel it and the woman on the line said she will do it. There was no mention of my "outstanding balance". I also asked for a confirmation email confirming it had been cancelled (hope I get it).

I think you have to make the move.

CTH billed us a mystery big amount in October, we called and disagreed with them, they said they would send us some written details – nothing received. They then cut off our service around the 20th, we called them twice, argued about the mystery amount, they said they would send us some written details – nothing received. About 10 days ago, we emailed them stating all the aforementioned and stating our argument, in which we asked that they withdraw their bills we consider incorrect, turn our service back on, and issue a new bill which we’ll pay for the month plus 20 days we consider outstanding – but they needed to confirm their agreement to this within 7 calendar days or we would consider the service agreement terminated by CTH by CTH cutting the services. They did not confirm within the week. We followed up by email again confirming that by CTH’s failure to conclude this matter to our satisfaction within the set period, we therefore considered the service agreement terminated. Still not heard anything from them…up to them if they wish to continue this argument, we have informed them our arrangement is over/dead/expired/terminated. CTH box has been in the cupboard for some time now.

Email them at [email protected]

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.Talking to a installer on Sunday, at her still open shop, her words were CTH are finito. They previously were official installers and then

their relationship becanme totally toxic and they got sick of people coming into the shop and complaining to them that CTH would not communicate.

Keep a copy of your emails and dates of calls and I would suggest you will never hear another word. Our set top box is sitting here packed ready for collection. We advised them by email it bounced back I sent a registered letter and have the receipt of same.

For people who are up to date on payments, have cancelled and are waiting for their deposit back best of luck.

Having been cut off recently, by CTH, for no valid reason, it would appear that CTH are about halfway down the toilet already. I can only suggest that they are clutching at straws, trying to screw any customers, or former customers, for any money they can, before they go under. Don't be intimidated by them. Local installers here on Koh Phangan, don't say too much, but the general feeling is that CTH wont recover from this ongoing shambles, and may well be finished before the end of the month. We shall see.

^The CTH email address I posted above does work (I know because they replied to my email to that email address saying they'd call us (4th phone call) but they never called) so you email them at that address. ..up to CTH if they reply or not.

Its pretty well know that the email address and their web site was down for several days. When my email to them bounce back, unseen by them , I checked the web site and was met by a blank screen.

So not to argue the dynamics but CTH are as good as dead and buried ,we move on.

Is there such a thing as a class action lawsuit in Thailand ?
