Group is exposed for issuing fake IDs in Thailand

Five officials have been implicated in allegedly issuing hundreds of fake ID cards to foreign migrant workers in Thailand, where hundreds of thousands of Cambodians live and work.

The activities of the group were exposed on Friday by Thai television outlet Channel 3, after Burmese migrants complained their names and personal details had been duplicated on ID cards carried by other workers in the province of Pathum Thani.

At least 300 fake ID cards have been discovered, with Pathum Thani Permanent Provincial Secretary Chalermpol Mangkang telling Thai media the investigation is ongoing.
