Suzuki GD

Featured Replies

Saw a Suzuki GD110 today in KK, I don't know what the style is called but you have to put your leg over as unlike a step-through, it has a proper petrol tank, like a Bonny. I think they are all 110cc with carbs and cost only 39k, that sounds good, but wondered how big they are. Bigger than a Wave and the like?

From a distance they look good, anyone know anything about them, do they come with a bigger engine, or are there plans too?

I saw them last year at the motorshow in bkk. They are cute little bikes. 110cc only I believe. They also had them customised into cafe racers and trackers.

I'd get one if I were 16.

I've seen nice customized ones around too.

Had a look at one today, didn't know they had a dealer in KK and yes it is a 16 year old's bike, easy to ride, except for the lack of 4th to neutral and bike tank but no petrol gauge. And it feels like a Chinese bike with a Suzuki label, even though the overall finish is good, the engine is not a patch on our 5 year old Wave.

End of thread I believe.

They let you test ride it, test the engine....Allan?

I had impression that the little engines were tough.

(Always chortle at the expression 'bullet-proof.'

You haven't seen my guns. (Big))

Not too bad, apart from the exhaust

Ha.

Must be designed for left-turn-only tracks.

I was hoping this thread would just fade away after realising it was for kids, but the point about the build quality from one of the big 4 is perhaps a point to raise.

Side by side in the Suzuki showroom was the Vanvan, which is made in Japan and 3x the price. The GD is made in China and the difference is clearly there to see and when I rode the bike just around the yard, the difference was even more pronounced (compared to a 5/6 year old Wave. Take the label off and you are on a cheapish Chinese bike.

So the arguments about build quality are not that straightforward when it comes to any named or unnamed brand.

So your next bike will be a Chinese bike? I'm looking forward to seeing the pics and your reports.

I always find this argument extremely funny and naive. You often hear 'oh but your I-Phone is made in China'. It's such a dumb comment.

There is a huge huge difference between a product made in China under the supervision of an international company's quality control dept' and a product made only under Chinese control.

Chinese made/controlled products didn't gain this reputation for no reason, even all the Chinese people I know agree they're are mostly rubbish. Perhaps they are getting better but they still have a long long way to go.

You seem to really rate them Allan so go and buy one, but we all know here that that will never happen.

I think you need to remove that bullet you just fired into your foot mate, what did you just say on a thread where we have a Japanese product (Suzuki) made in China.

Now your i-phone comparison is a "dumb comment"...or thanks for supporting my argument.

Now IMO the all Chinese Lifan Cross is a good product... Chinese through and through, with a little help from an old Jap engine they found lying around.

It seems English isn't your first language. Please re-read what I said.

Really MTK? Well thanks for the compliment, better than a native then...

You wrote.....

iphone a product made in China under the supervision of an international company's quality control dept'

Suzuki a product made in China under the supervision of an international company's quality control dept'

..or are you claiming Suzuki is not an international company?

If not, I am not aware that guys at Suzuki actually said "oh clap we can't be bothered supervising the production of their own products". Doesn't sound very Japanese to me.

Rode one in Hua hin for few days. Crappy bike in all ways. Bad brakes, gear shifting upside down, no power at all (compared to wave 110) and general flimsy feeling. Only positive thing is the looks compared to other 110cc scooters.
